Cardinal George Pell's alleged victims were two 13-year-old boys on scholarships to the prestigious St Kevin's College.
In 1996, the two allegedly 'nicked off' from the procession following a Sunday mass and were allegedly caught drinking red sacramental wine in the priest's sacristy by Pell, newly installed as Archbishop of Melbourne.
No witnesses testified that they saw the boys leaving the ceremony or returning unexpectedly.
Allegedly, in the sacristy (changing room), Pell, who was dressed in his ceremonial robes, scolded the boys and then molested the pair. He then allegedly forced one to perform oral sex on him, the court was told.
One of the alleged victims, who has since died of an overdose, denied, to his parents, that he had ever been abused.

The location of the alleged assault was in 'a public area' and 'Pell would have known that someone could have walked in at any moment'.
The complainant said that the sacristy door was wide open and altar servers were passing along the corridor.
"A judge banned police prosecutors from using crucial evidence that Pell sexually assaulted two boys in a school swimming pool in the 1970s, which forced the DPP to drop the charges.
"Further, the Victorian police have refused to take witness statements from other George Pell victims including Dean Henry.

The Woodlands Boys Home
In September 2013, it was reported that a pedophile ring, which included Christian clergy, sexually abused boys at the Woodlands Boys Home, in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia.
According to one witness: ''These men just came, got the boys, used them, and put them back.''
According to another witness: ''These men changed from week to week, suggesting a larger, organised ring.
''We are aware of a group of men who did come to the home in the 1970s for a number of years on a Sunday afternoon, ostensibly to conduct a children's Christian program, but who routinely took smaller boys into downstairs rooms in the building and abused them.''

One witness reported: ''If the boys reported what happened, they were flogged. My husband can still hear it today, the screaming of the boys when they were taken downstairs and flogged for saying what had been done to them.''

The United Protestant Association has been forced to apologise for the child sexual abuse at its Woodlands and Ellimatta homes over nearly 40 years.
The Salvation Army's BAYSWATER Boys' Home "was a paedophiles' paradise, with several unexplained deaths and missing boys, and others lent to outside paedophiles...
"Abuse by Salvation Army staff was so severe that in some cases boys were killed or allowed to die from their injuries...
"One victim, Rod Braybon, told police in 2009 of reports of two wards of state who died of beatings in the 1950s and were allegedly buried in the Sugarloaf Hill area of the home, while three other boys disappeared in mysterious circumstances...
''In the 1970s the Bayswater Boys' Home was staffed by a paedophile ring, and staff not only sexually abused the children in their care but also allowed other paedophiles free access to boys, who were removed from the home and sexually abused at will...
In 2006, the Salvation Army secretly paid more than $1.5 million in compensation to more than 50 victims who were beaten, raped and tortured from the 1950s to 1970s by Salvation Army officers at the Bayswater home, Box Hill Boys' Home and East Kew Girls' Home, all now closed."
Brian Cherrie was repeatedly raped inside the Salvation Army's Box Hill Boys' Home.
"The children's home where I grew up is still owned by the Salvation Army ... and is worth tens of millions of dollars," he said.
"These churches and charities made a lot of money on the back of our misery and they need to cough up and pay redress to all forgotten Australians."
Alfred Stirling said of his time in Bayswater Boys' Homes: "I'd get the crap beaten out of me, and then raped ... it was hell."
The Salvation Army has now said sorry for the abuse of children in its care up to the 1990s.

In May 2010 it was revealed that, while Transport Minister inNew South Wales, the married David Campbell used a ministerial car to visit Ken's of Kensington, a gay sex club in Sydney.
Ken's of Kensington has facilities for "sex on the premises, including private cubicles and specially-themed fantasy rooms."
There has been speculation that Campbell's personal life could have been used to blackmail him while he was Police Minister in 2007 and 2008.
In 2008 the former New South Wales Police Minister Matthew Brown was forced to resign after dancing semi-naked on a green leather sofa and simulating a sex act.
In 2008, the former New South Wales Aboriginal Affairs Minister Milton Orkopoulos was jailed for child sex.
In 1999, two journalists from Australia's Sun-Herald claimed to have seen evidence of the satanic ritual abuse of children.
They interviewed six mothers whose children had disclosed experiences of SRA and organised abuse in New South Wales.
The children's disclosures were corroborating, although they had never met one another, and they had been able to draw representations of "satanic" ritual sites which were similar to ritual sites uncovered by police on the central coast of New South Wales.
In the late 1980s, a number of children at a daycare centre in the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia, began disclosing experiences of organised and ritualistic sexual abuse to their parents and the police.[3]
Their disclosures included instances in which they were taken in a car from the creche to a nearby house, undressed by adults and sexually assaulted, video-taped and filmed while naked, and urinated and defecated upon by adults.

In 2002, Chief Commissioner Christine Nixon referred complaints about the mishandling of the case by police to the Victorian Ombudsman.
An officer from the Ethical Standards Department was stood down a year later from the Ombudsman's investigation for "incompetence" after failing to pass on information from two key witnesses, and claiming that he never spoke to them when phone records proved that he had.
One of the witnesses referred to a tape of child pornography showing men in police uniforms sexually assaulting children from the daycare centre.
However, this lead was never followed up by the police.
Another witness identified the house in which the children had been assaulted as being owned by a police officer.[7]
The principal of a private college on the Mornington Peninsula repeatedly told the Department of Human Services that a 12-year-old boy disclosed ongoing sexual abuse by an organised group of men wearing police uniforms.
According to the principal, all records of the child's complaint vanished.
A Victoria Police spokesman said he was not aware that files had disappeared. The police declined to press charges, saying the boy had been "too well groomed" by the pedophiles and probably would not testify in court.[8]
Sexual abuse was common at Bindoon Boys Town, in Australia.
The boys called their Catholic guardians the 'Christian Buggers'.

Some of the children ended up at Bindoon Boys Town. At Bindoon there were regular floggings and there was regular child sexual abuse. Former Bindoon boy John Hennessy speaks with a stutter. He recalls being stripped naked and publicly flogged at Bindoon. Mick Snell, who was sent to the Methodists Dalmar House in Sydney, says: "A lot are starting to top themselves... I dream I'm back there and I'm locked up, being verbally abused and whacked. I wake up in a cold sweat."

Outsiders would take some boys out for the day. "I know for a fact they were rock spiders (paedophiles). The kids that were involved, they didn't like talking about it," says Snell. At Bindoon there was no teaching and several former inmates are illiterate.
