Gravel, in relation to 9 11, said: "We killed 58,000 American servicemen in the Vietnam War and all they did was die in vain.

"What's so unusual about killing 3,000 more in order to develop the grist for the mill to empower into infinity the military industrial complex?" [207]

Gravel discourages the idea of people actually voting for him.

His own preferences are Bernie Sanders or Tulsi Gabbard, both of whom stress a non-interventionist foreign policy.[208]

Tim Ryan is 'a friend of labor, and he's concerned about the fate of manufacturing.'

In April 2016, Ryan tweeted, "I was in Jerusalem a few weeks ago & saw firsthand the dangerous threat Israelis face. Israel has the right to defend itself from terror."[19]

Beto O'Rourke criticized Israel's actions during the 2014 Israel–Gaza conflict and voted against funding Israel's Iron Dome missile defense system.[164][165]

O'Rourke denounced the move of the US embassy to Jerusalem as "provocative."

He supports a two-state solution and believes that the U.S. could best support a peaceful settlement by urging Israel to discontinue Israeli settlements in the West Bank and assist the Palestinian Authority to negotiate in good faith and recognize Israel's right to exist.[166]

O'Rourke criticized Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu following his comments about annexing the settlements in the occupied West Bank after the 2019 Israeli election, calling him a "racist".[167]

In April 2019, he called the U.S.-Israel relationship "one of the most important relationships that we have on the planet."[168]

...

O'Rourke supported legislation to curtail NSA's broad and unwarranted surveillance of U.S. and foreign citizens.[173]

O'Rourke said that U.S. involvement in Central America "has not been a very positive one over the last 60 years. You can go back to the coup [in Guatemala] that overthrew Jacobo Arbenz in 1954, fully backed by the Eisenhower administration and the Dulles brothers, who had an interest in the United Fruit company, whose fight with the government really precipitated the crisis that led to the coup."[179]

O'Rourke is like Obama?

Like Obama, 'his reputation is perhaps more liberal than his voting record.'

John Hickenlooper stands 'shoulder-to-shoulder' with Israel.

Often the poverty is worse in the UK.

"Teachers are reporting a 'significant increase' in child poverty, including pupils arriving at school after days without eating.

"The findings are part of a UK survey of more than 8,000 teachers, school leaders and support staff."

ZEN

Galloway.

Zen is a school of Buddhism that began in China.

Zen Buddhism is an attempt to make life better.

"There is actually immense suffering within ourselves, and we can start to ease that, and when we do, we then have a model for applying that to others."

A Guide to Pratical Compassion : zen habits

Kirkcudbright.

"Let your ego and your unconscious mind melt away; merge with the universe."

What is Zen Buddhism?

"Zen techniques are compatible with other faiths and are often used, for example, by Christians seeking a mystical understanding of their faith."

Zen Buddhism

St Andrews.

"Zen sends us looking inside us for enlightenment."

Zen Buddhism

The word "zen" means emptiness or void.

Zen Buddhism explained

"This is the basis of zen itself - that all life and existence is based on a kind of dynamic emptiness."

(Modern science sees phenomena at a sub-atomic level popping in and out of existence.)

Zen Buddhism explained

Indonesia, much influenced by Buddhism.

What is this 'emptiness'?

It can be seen as being 'empty of selfishness'.

It can be seen as 'empty of anger, fear, envy and suffering'.

Empty of What?.

"Death is not final in Buddhism. Consciousness continues."

The Zennist

The Japanese philosophy called Wabi-Sabi is about noticing beauty in the 'naturally imperfect world'.

For the Zen Buddhists, "wabi" is something that is simple and humble, and "sabi" means something that is not perfect.

Wabi translates to 'less is more'.

Wabi-Sabi means appreciating a quiet rainy day and the impermanence of all things.

In the 'perfect' game of golf you get a 'hole in one' at every hole?

That could get boring.

The advantage of adopting Wabi-Sabi is that it might make us less stressed.

"A wabi sabi relationship is one in which you deliberately accept each other where you are - imperfect, unfinished, and mortal.

"Appreciation for imperfections in others, and even in yourself, is the essential wabi sabi frame of mind."
