BELMOND RAILWAYS - DUMFRIES AND GALLOWAY

Reopening a Dumfries to Stranraer railway is one of a string of options still on the table for the future of transport in south west Scotland.

Draft proposals have been published and are now out for consultation.

South West Scotland, Dumfries and Galloway, would be an ideal area for luxury rail travel of the sort provided by the Belmond Royal Scotsman elsewhere in Scotland.

Currently, there is a rail link between Glasgow and Stranraer.

Currently there is a rail link between Glasgow and Dumfries.

Currently there is a rail link between London and Dumfries (via Carlisle).

It has been suggested that the rail link between Dumfries and Stranraer should be restored.

Until more rail links are restored, Belmond could use luxury coaches for trips to such places as:

Drumlanrig Palace,
Logan Botanic Garden,
The Garden of Cosmic Speculation,
The Peter Pan linked Moat Brae house,

Drumlanrig palace, in Dumfries and Galloway.

AND Broughton House and Garden,
Robert Burns house,
And the Cairnholy neolithic tombs.
