In February 1990 Liz Davies and David Cofie, senior social workers, discovered evidence of sex abuse of children and reported it to a residents' meeting attended by Mrs Hodge.
In May 1990 Mr Cofie and Ms Davies were told by Lyn Cusack, assistant director of social services, to stop interviewing children about the abuse claims.
On 1 May 1997 Tony Blair moved from Islington to Downing Street.
In June 2003 Mrs Hodge was made minister for Children.

Margaret Hodge was the Leader of Islington Borough Council for the period 1982-1992 when paedophiles, pimps, and child traffickers infested every single one of its children's homes and sexually abused 'hundreds' of children in Islington's care.
When care workers including Liz Davies brought their reports of child rape and exploitation to Margaret Hodge, she dismissed them all out of hand.
Hodge defamed an Islington child abuse survivor - falsely calling him "extremely disturbed" (he is not and never has been) - and branded Evening Standard journalists who truthfully and accurately reported the scandal "gutter press".
Tony Blair subsequently appointed Margaret Hodge the UK's first Children's Minister.
Will Dame Margaret's supporters be able to fix things for her yet again, in tonight's selection contest?

"From what I've read the candidates were not treated equally. Postal ballots were held insecurely by a Hodge supporter, the addresses of CLP members were not given out to all candidates at the same time and certain officials were seen assisting in the canvassing/collected ballots."
