Which 'poor' kids are most likely to get to university?
In the UK, it is 'disadvantaged' kids from white British backgrounds who are the least likely to get higher education, with only 1 in 10 of the poorest attending university.
The figure is 3 in 10 for disadvantaged black Caribbean children.
5 in 10 for disadvantaged Bangladeshis.
Nearly 7 in 10 for lowest income Chinese students.
In the 1870s, human zoos could be found in Britain, the USA, France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Italy and Poland.
In 1904, in the USA, Apaches, Igorots (from the Philippines), and a Congolese called Ota Benga were put on display in a 'zoo'.
Ota Benga, a human exhibit in the primate section at the Bronx Zoo, in 1906.
In France, between 1906 and 1931, dark skinned humans were displayed in cages, often nude.
A counter-exhibition in France, entitled The Truth about the Colonies, attracted few visitors.
In 1925, a display at Belle Vue Zoo in Manchester, England, was entitled "Cannibals" and featured black Africans depicted as savages.[15]
In 1906, Madison Grant, a eugenicist and head of the New York Zoological Society, put Ota Benga on display at the Bronx Zoo in New York City.
Benga was displayed in a cage with the chimpanzees.
When Benga was out of the cage, he was often followed by a crowd "howling, jeering and yelling."[14]

Ota Benga (1883 -1916) was bought from African slave traders by the explorer Samuel Phillips Verner, a businessman hunting for Africans to be put on display in the USA.
His method involved each microprocessor communicating with six neighbours.[5]
Emeagwali's simulation was the first program to apply a pseudo-time approach to reservoir modeling.[1]
When it comes to global school rankings (Pisa test scores) Asian countries dominate the top of the rankings, with socialist Singapore heading the table.
The United States comes in at number 28.
The Scots have invented large numbers of things.
However, in Scotland, people from the White Scottish group are the least likely to have degrees (17%).
In Scotland, the group with the highest proportion of people educated to degree level is the African group (47%)
The next highest is the Bangladeshi group (45%) followed by the Indian group (42%).

Donald Trump's friend the Rev. Jerry Falwell has said that AIDS is a plague sent by God.
A new study says that the AIDS epidemic started in New York City in the 1970s, and that the virus had probably come from Haiti or another Caribbean country.
New York has a lot of gay people. Above we see the gay former New York mayor Ed Koch and the gay Roy Cohn with their friend Donald Trump.
Gaetan Dugas, a Quebec-born flight attendant at Air Canada, was wrongly labeled as Patient Zero in a 1984 study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Researchers at the University of Arizona in Tucson have studied the history of the AIDS virus's mutations and found that the epidemic began before Dugas's time, Science reports.
The researchers believe the virus moved from Africa to the Caribbean in 1967.
From there, it probably moved into the US mainland by way of New York City in 1970 and then on to San Francisco by the mid-1970s.
A US Navy officer enters lab test results into a computer, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
Gary Glum, author of Full Disclosure theorised that scientists at the Cold Spring Harborlab in New York engineered HIV/AIDS.
Glum believes that AIDS was created to wipe out, or control, the black population.
Edward Hooper, a British journalist, argued in his 1999 book, The River, that Dr. Hilary Koprowski of the Wistar Research Institute caused the AIDS epidemic by using chimp kidneys to produce an oral polio vaccine.

Haiti, and the Caribbean, have long been destinations for Americans, and Europeans, involved in child abuse.
For Congressmen, or European Commissioners, who like young black boys, Port au Prince is an ideal destination.
Reportedly, Haiti was where the CIA tested the AIDS virus.
Reportedly (Cached), the US Navy "had an experimental medical station down in Haiti.
"They were down there because there was a huge pool of very poor locals they could use as subjects in tests.
"He said that they were developing something that would lower a person’s resistance to the point where a common cold would put them out of action for weeks."
"U.S. scientists heavily promoted the theory that AIDS was brought to America by affluent, young promiscuous gays from Manhattan, who regularly traveled to Port-au-Prince and Carrefours where it was cheap and easy to have sex with Haitian men...
"The public was repeatedly informed that the 'gay plague' was brought to America by Manhattan gays sodomized in Haiti...
"Some Haitians use epidemiologic data to suggest that Manhattan gays brought the disease to Haiti...
"(There is a) theory which accuses the CIA of conducting secret biological experiments on male and female prostitutes in Carrefour.
"Proponents of this theory insist that prostitutes were deliberately injected with viruses during routine injections of antibiotics for sexually-transmitted diseases.
"The theory seems so bizarre, and yet there are statistical and epidemiologic peculiarities of Haitian AIDS that could be compatible with covert human experimentation...
"Something obviously happened in Haiti around the late 1970s to account for the outbreak of AIDS."
The historian Thomas Frank wrote the book entitled What's the Matter with Kansas?
He explains how those politicians who support the rich 0.1% manage to persuade ordinary folks to vote for them.
Thomas Frank writes:
"Strip today's Kansans of their job security, and they head out to become registered Republicans.
"Push them off their land, and next thing you know they're protesting in front of abortion clinics.
"Squander their life savings on manicures for the CEO, and there's a good chance they'll join the John Birch Society.
"But ask them about the remedies their ancestors proposed (unions, antitrust, public ownership), and you might as well be referring to the days when knighthood was in flower." (Frank, T. 2004 "What's the Matter with Kansas?", pp. 67-68)
In 1999, Donald Trump, on the subject of abortion, said that he was "very pro-choice."
In 2016, Donald Trump says that he is "pro-life."
Trump realises that you can win support in elections by pressing the right buttons.
These buttons relate to guns, gays, God, Blacks, Moslems, immigrants, and abortion.
...
According to Thomas Frank, right-wing politicians prefer to talk about abortion and gay marriage, rather than about poverty.
And of course politicians do not like to talk about false flag operations or child abuse rings.
Too many Americans elect politicians whose economic policies will not benefit the majority of ordinary Americans.
Thomas Frank writes:
Instead of fighting for working class interests, the Democratic party has adopted economically conservative policies.
The Democrats also press the buttons relating to guns, gays, God, Blacks, Moslems, immigrants, and abortion.
The Democrats prefer to talk about being pro-choice rather than about false flags.
Thomas Frank writes that the conservative coalition is the dominant coalition in American politics.
The economic conservatives have achieved business tax cuts and deregulation.
The social conservatives have failed "because the very capitalist system the economic conservatives strive to strengthen and deregulate promotes and commercially markets the perceived assault on traditional values."
In other words, people like Trump and Clinton do not hold traditional values.
The excellent K Patrick Ryan noted the following about the trolls:
1. "Oh dear God, some of the worst are those who use the bullshit 'liberal' v 'conservative'canard."
2. "Yeah, I really don't comprehend the vitriol spewed against Blacks/'Mexicans'...
"My Irish forefathers were run off their own land and considered to be wholly inferior to their British counterparts.
"When the Irish were left with no choice but to migrate to Britain, there they were held in contempt.
"That's not at all different from today in that, for instance, Mexicans have had their livelihoods decimated by NAFTA and many have no choice but to come North if they wish to survive...
"For what it's worth I stand with my brothers of all walks of life against the enemy shared (even if that enemy is unknown to the majority, it is shared nonetheless) by all life on this planet...
"So why weaken our cause by separating ourselves by race in an effort to prove some grand notion that 'I'm more special than the other guy'..."
If we were to write sympathetically about all the kids who kill themselves because they are bullied about being 'gay', we would then receive a torrent of abuse from trolls accusing us of being Jewish, lesbian, liberal etc.
We used to have a lovely old neighbour called Betty.
Betty was Jewish and many members of her family had been murdered by the evil Nazis.
If we were to write in detail about Betty, we would no doubt be accused of being Jewish.
We have a teacher friend who tells us that the most hard working and polite kids in his class are black and that the most 'criminal' and poorly performing kids in his class are 'poor' Whites.
If we were to write more about that we would be accused of being anti-White.
This blog has long campaigned against child abuse, so, the trolls want to make out that we are promoting child abuse.
The point is:
There are 'good' Blacks and 'bad' Blacks, 'good' Whites and 'bad' Whites, 'good' Jews and 'bad' Jews, 'good' Christians and 'bad' Christians and 'good' Gays and 'bad' Gays.
We have travelled the World and would say that there are good people within every race and religion, without exception.
Teddy Taylor MP.
And we should not be swift to condemn the 'criminal' and 'poorly performing' poor 'Whites'.
I remember visiting a white family in their tower block flat in a very rough part of Castlemilk in Glasgow.
The stairway was covered in graffiti, vomit and urine.
The family's front door looked as if it had been attacked by an axe.
Over the centuries, these poor Whites have been treated just as badly as the poor Irish or the poor Blacks or the poor Jews.
The elite herd the poor into ghettoes.
The Member of Parliament for Castlemilk was Teddy Taylor, a right wing Conservative.
The poor Protestants were conned into voting for Taylor because of Taylor's right-wing protestant Christian views.
A famous local headmaster assured me that Teddy Taylor was actually a crypto-Jew.
Of course, the Labour Party in Glasgow is no better than the Conservatives.
So, where is the enemy?
The enemy is in all of us - when we lack compassion and go to extremes.
