There are many vested interests in the region and another military coup sponsored by the usual bad actors may very well be a real possibility.

A couple of signs that there may be a little bit more to these utterings. A very large presence of UN vehicles with their white livery stretched for miles on the approach to Blaise Diagne airport, Dakar. Vehicles and equipment on the back of trucks clearly earmarked for an event somewhere. Furthermore there was an Antonov (heavy lift) aircraft sitting at the freight terminal trying to look inconspicuous.

Putting two and two together it is easy to come up with five. The rumours and counter rumours of events shaping up in the region are a bit more believable when a large visible presence of UN are in the area. I don't think the equipment was at its final destination. However, it is clearly destined for somewhere close to Senegal.

No doubt some poor, suffering country in Africa needs a new war. The last thing anyone needs is a period of peace or stability.
