PSYCHIC; GORDON SMITH

...

"New research argues that legitimate, statistically significant evidence for psi, or psychic ability, does exist."

Is There Scientific Proof of Psychic Ability? - The Cut

Parapsychology researcher Etzel Cardeña writes that the strongest support for psi can be found in research which utilizes the “Ganzfeld procedure,” in which blindfolded subjects in a soundproofed room are asked to describe a film clip they have not seen, which they’re either shown after the fact, or which is played simultaneously in another room.

The results can be impressive.

Gordon Smith is the 'Psychic Barber'.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/programmes/everyman/factsheet_mediums.shtml

"Gordon Smith is the seventh son of a seventh son, and when he was born the midwife told his mother he would be a healer of some sort.

"Gordon is renowned for his mediumship and offering healing and comfort.

"Gordon has two grown-up sons and still lives in his native Glasgow ... running his busy barber's shop in the city centre, which has given him the nickname 'the psychic barber'."

The following is an account by Tricia Robertson from her book The Truth is Here -

PRISM is an acronym for Psychical Research Involving Selected Mediums. This is a research group that was set up to study paranormal phenomena, including mediumship, in a scientific manner.

Gordon Smith was one of the mediums who willingly participated.

The statistical analysis of his results always showed a high degree of accuracy to the intended recipient.

It was because of the high standard of his work that he was asked to give a demonstration of his mediumship at Glasgow University at the request of the Scottish Society for Psychical Research.

No one was disappointed.

Gordon Smith spoke to Scotland on Sunday:

http://scotlandonsunday.scotsman.com/spectrum.cfm?id=1203212003

HOW DID IT ALL START?

When I was a little boy, I saw the spirit of a friend of the family.

A man who had been deceased for just over a week appeared before me in the garden in broad daylight.

He was solid, three-dimensional and spoke in an ordinary fashion. There was nothing scary or malevolent about him. It wasn’t until I reported the incident to my mother that there was any reaction. She freaked out.

WHY DO BIRDS SUDDENLY APPEAR EVERY TIME YOU ARE NEAR?

They are obviously aware of the spiritual energy around me and all mediums who work between the two worlds - after all, isn’t a bird just a spirit in the sky?

WHERE DO WE GO WHEN WE DIE?

Love lifts us up where we belong.

I believe we shall find ourselves with the people we have known and loved in our lives, in a world filled with love, light and laughter.

We will grow according to our own spirituality and according to all the good deeds we have created in this earth life.

So the better you are in this world, the more you create good vibrations - and the more good vibrations you create, the higher you will be lifted.

WHAT can I DO TO MAKE PEOPLE LOVE ME?

Be yourself in the face of all things, never try to be more than you can be and accept your life for what it is.

HOW CAN YOU HEAL SOMEONE WHO DOESN’T WANT TO HEAL?

You can’t.

Healing begins when the person wants to be healed.

Some people suffer in this world and because of it become stronger.

When you feel ready to face the world again after your suffering, the healing will begin.

WHEN YA’ TAKE A HOLIDAY IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT?

I never can say goodbye to the fair city of Glasgow. Even when I travel all over the world I feel connected to my home city. I used to think that wherever I laid my hat was my home, but I know that my heart belongs to Glasgow.

SO WHAT’S NEW TO YOU?

Every day is a new day. Every experience is new when you live in the moment.

Gordon Smith's psychic gift was ignored as he was growing up ...

Gordon Smith had a difficult childhood.

His book, Best Of Both Worlds, talks  about the poverty and abuse he encountered growing up in 1970s Glasgow.

Years ago the city's Gorbals area,' a poverty-stricken hotbed of gangs and violence'  is where Gordon was raised.

His seven siblings and fiery Irish mother protected him as best they could.

"I was six when a gang broke into our house in the middle of the night and broke every single window," he says.

"I remember being pulled out of bed to terror and screaming."

Gordon's parents in Glasgow

Gordon suffered sexual abuse at the hands of a local man at around the same time.

"I look back and think I was a child of seven, it wasn't my fault but I had to quietly learn to get over it. At the time I blocked it out, it only surfaced when I practised meditation years later.

"I believe these things arise when you're ready to accept and handle them so there's the ongoing process of working through things and building on them.

"Now I always talk to people who have encountered abuse." During his traumatic encounters Gordon discovered he could escape the situation by leaving his body and entering a new spiritual realm.

His gift was starting to blossom. "I started seeing dead people," he recalls.

"I'd tell my mum and she'd get angry. I saw Ummy, my grandmother's partner, as clear as day. He'd died the week before and I hadn't known about it."

Gordon with his cousin Stephen who died aged 11

"It was only when I'd travel to London to stay with my aunt Sylvia and uncle Michael in their big house in the peaceful suburbs that I realised life could be different," he says.

During these visits he struck up a close bond with their only child, his cousin Stephen.

"Stephen was a little boy who should have had everything," says Gordon.

"But one day out of nowhere when we were eight or nine he had an accident and fell off a swing. He hurt his stomach and when he was operated on doctors discovered that he had cancer.

"It was the saddest thing I remember as a child, knowing that he was ill. Despite my age I learnt to read the atmosphere and knew he was dying even before he did."

When Stephen passed away at the age of 11 Gordon stayed in London at the request of Aunt Sylvia.

"I saw him after he died," he says.

"My aunt wanted to keep me with her and quite often I would feel Stephen's presence in the room and I would close my eyes and he was there and I'd be playing with him.

It wasn't until my aunt Sylvia was dying many years later that she told me she used to stand outside the playroom and listen to me and if she closed her eyes Stephen was alive. That was a beautiful thing to her."

....

Gordon  became a barber and at the age of 17 met Kate, a girl who lived near his grandmother in Glasgow.

By the time Gordon was 19 she was pregnant.

"We got married because that was the done thing and we were in love," says Gordon.

For the following decade he lived a normal life with a wife, two children and a job as a hairdresser.

And then he saw another spirit.

"It was my colleague Chrissie's brother standing in my bedroom in a tartan shirt and tight blue jeans with his arms folded," he says.

"Ten minutes later the police knocked on my door. They had come to deliver the salon keys as Chrissie had been in a house fire. It was only the following day that I found out her brother had died."

At Chrissie's request Gordon accompanied her to see a medium in an attempt to make contact with her dead brother. But when they arrived it was Gordon the medium had a message for.

"She told me, 'You are a medium yourself. 'You'll be on the stage doing this within five years.'

"And then she proceeded to tell me all about my grandmother who'd died at the age of 42."

At 29, Gordon realised that he was gay.

"It hadn't really occurred to me but when I delved back into my childhood I realised I did have desires when I was about 13 or 14 that I must have brushed under the carpet," he says.

"But really Kate and I fell out of love and that was the catalyst."

He is thankful that he was able to maintain good relationships with both his sons.

...

Gordon started working as a medium and would do readings at spiritualist churches for free.

"One of the most amazing things for me was locating a woman's son who'd disappeared on an Army training exercise. She didn't realise her son was dead so it was hard.

"But I told her about a river in France where his body was, although only a part of it.

"A year later they found a human thigh-bone belonging to her son. How could I have known that? It's like finding a needle in a haystack."

For Gordon the most rewarding part of his job is bringing comfort to the bereaved.

"I was sitting with a mother whose 17-year-old son committed suicide and her boy came through and gave her lovely evidence that his spirit was still alive," he says.

"He told her he didn't kill himself because of her and she shouldn't blame herself. I could never charge someone for that. I get my rewards in so many ways."

MESSAGES FROM THE DEAD

Jack Robinson (right) and his twin brother Liam.

In 2014, Jack Robinson, from Hampshire in the UK, died at the age of 4.

His brain tumour had proved inoperable.

Jack's parents Terence and Marie Robinson arranged a funeral involving a white horse-drawn carriage surrounded by Star Wars stormtroopers.

Three years later, Marie Robinson asked for a 'sign'.

"Please show Mummy a sign" .

Marie says: "Early Saturday morning I got in the car and said out loud, 'Jack, please show Mummy a sign' and thought I'll see him after I finished work.

"At 1pm I left work and walked up to his resting place. I was overcome with emotion and I sat on the grass next to Jack."

"With that a little robin kept flying around me trying to land on me, eventually landing on my foot - he didn't seem scared at all.

The robin stayed with her while she cried (Facebook)

"The robin went and sat on a nearby headstone so I got my phone out to film him being close to me and he flew over and landed on my hand.

"He kept looking at me directly in my face and at one point he landed on my shoulder and nibbled me a couple of times."

Marie shared the video on Facebook, saying: "Can't believe what's just happened, come to see my precious boy Jack - just sat down on ground next to him and this happened.

"Yes it brought me to tears. Taking it as a sign from Jack."

Robins can be seen as a symbol that loved ones are still there.

1. Stacey Woodhouse said: "The day after my Mum's funeral, "a robin flew around us, landing in our picnic table. She then proceeded to hop into our awning and through into our camper van.

"She stayed there looking at us for a good few minutes while I chatted with her.

"I felt an immense sense of calm. My mum loved joining us for camping trips, even it was only for a few hours and a cuppa."

2. Sylvia Rafter: "My Mam passed in June. I was driving home to get clothes when my neighbour was driving towards me.

"We both stopped and I broke down telling her about Mam. She put her hand over her mouth and pointed and there, on my car mirror, was perched a robin... even with the engine running."

3. Sharon Sandford says: "I have always believed robins to be a sign that a loved one is near. Never failed to see one at the cemetery when visiting my brother's resting place.

"My mum died last November and we buried her ashes next to my brother on what would have been his birthday.

"The biggest robin appeared and actually went into the grave. He then hopped over to my Dad and then me. I feel so happy whenever I see one."

...

4. Ann Brady said: "There is a little robin who visited us when we were standing at my son's resting place as well.

"On one of the first occasions we visited and stood there. It hopped down in front of us looked at us. We still see it from time to time. It was a lovely moment!"
5. Corrina Whelan says: "The first time we visited my nana's resting place after she died, a robin appeared on her headstone.

"And for a long time after that a robin would appear on the wall outside the kitchen window every time my mother called to my house. I believe in robins and white feathers."

6. Andrea Helliwell said: "There is often a robin around my late first husband and baby daughter's grave. It brings with it such a feeling of peace.

"My Dad always said he would come back as a robin because everybody loved them. Each time a family member has died, I have seen a robin so now I make sure I feed the robins on my bird table."

...

7. Karon Carr said: "When my dad died in a hospice there was one outside his window and one comes back every year."

8. Diane Atherley said: "At my father's wake a robin walked into the hall were we were holding it in - just in front o. f me. I believe it was Dad saying 'I'm with you all.'"

9. Laney Head commented: "I see a robin every day when I am at my son's grave or walking past his park where he used to play. It is only since 29.12.2016. God bless."

10. Yvonne Boylan said: "My little brother came to me as a butterfly when he died and has done  so since that day."

LIFE AFTER DEATH

Yesterday I met a taxi driver called Rob who told me about two experiences he had had regarding the deaths of relatives.

1. Rob's female cousin, Mary, was seriously ill in hospital, in Preston, in England.

During the night, Rob woke up and briefly saw a figure at the foot of his bed.

The figure looked like Mary.

Rob guessed that Mary had died and had come to visit him.

Very shortly afterwards, Rob was informed by phone that Mary had died.

2. Rob's father, unlike Rob himself, constantly used wooden toothpicks.

Rob's father died.

Rob then found a wooden toothpick in his pocket.

Rob disposed of the toothpick.

Soon afterwards, Rob found another toothpick in his pocket.

More toothpicks appeared as the days progressed.

Rob took this as a sign that his father was still around.

Rob told me that these experiences helped to make him more at ease with the world.

Recently I met a man called Bob who had had an out of body experience.

Bob, as a youth, was big and strong.

While at school, Bob encountered a Catholic priest who had been physically and sexually abusing a fellow pupil.

Bob beat the priest up.

The priest developed Alzheimer's disease.

Bob told the priest that he hoped he would die in agony.

Some time later Bob had a heart attack and was taken unconscious to a hospital.

While in the operating theatre, at 3am, Bob found himself looking down at his body.

He could also see his late father, who told him that he was going to be OK.

At 3am, Bob's mother, who was at home, had a vision of her late husband.

While unconscious and looking down at his body, Bob could see the pretty female doctor who was treating him.

After being healed, Bob encountered the pretty female doctor and he told her of his experience.

The female doctor said that other patients had had similar experiences.

Dr Rajiv Parti

Dr Rajiv Parti has written a book, Dying To Wake Up, about his out of body experience.

dailymail.

DR RAJIV PARTI owned a mansion and drove a Porsche.

He shouted at his son a lot.

He was often unsympathetic to his patients.

Then he went into hospital as a patient and had an out of body experience.

He writes: "one evening, just two weeks after my fifth operation, I suddenly felt faint."

In the operating theatre he felt hiself "zooming straight up, as if in a lift...

"I could see the ceiling approaching, its glossy surface slowly getting closer.

"Then I looked down and saw my own abdomen, now with several incisions...

"Eventually, though, I relaxed, watching in rapt amazement as the surgeons and nurses worked on my body...

"I was still in the operating theatre, but at the same time I could see my mother and sister sitting on a sofa in our family home, thousands of miles away in New Delhi...

"To my right, I heard screams of pain and anguish...

"I knew then that I was on the lip of hell...

"A voice spoke to me telepathically.

"'You have led a materialistic and selfish life,' it said.

"I knew that was true, and felt ashamed. Over the years, I'd lost empathy for my patients.

"Standing on the rim of hell, I remembered a woman who'd come to my clinic for treatment...

"'I'd love to talk to you,' I said, writing out a prescription for pain-killers and sleeping pills. 'But I have several patients waiting' ...

"I had trained myself to think only of myself...

"I thought of my possessions and how meaningless they were...

"There seemed no way out, but I prayed for one anyway...

"Almost at that instant, I did get my second chance - in the form of the last person I ever expected to see.

"It was my father.

"I recognised him immediately, though he looked at least 30 years younger than when he'd died.

"He took my hand in his and led me away from the edge of hell, as if I were still a little boy.

"Then, putting his arm around me, my father tried to comfort me - and it was the first time I could remember him touching me affectionately...

"I was still afraid that my father was going to beat me, just as he had so many times in my childhood...

"My father, my cruel and despotic father, was spiritually rescuing me from hell! I looked into his eyes, and my hard heart melted with love.

"No words came from his mouth, but for the first time I learned from him that his own father had abused him, just as he'd abused me.

"'Anger,' my father told me, 'isn’t usually about an event. It's passed on from father to son. If you know that, you can stop it; you can choose not to be angry.

"'Simple love is the most important thing in the universe.'"

Dr Rajiv and his father entered a tunnel.

"I recognised my grandfather, who gave me a look of sheer joy. 'Love is the most important thing there is,' he told me. Then both he and my father simply faded away...

"I found myself high above a green meadow, peppered with rose bushes. Just the sweet smell of the grass and roses made me almost delirious with pleasure...

"We travelled on to a higher plane...

"At the highest level, you are surrounded by a powerful energy that consists of pure love and intelligence - the underlying fabric of everything in the universe.

"Enlightenment comes ... when a person realises that love is everywhere and is the only thing that matters...."

...

After recovering, Dr Parti got rid of his expensive cars and sold his mansion.

He set up a new practice to heal people through meditation and other alternative methods.

His son now has a close relationship with the father he once feared.
