Rabbi Boteach has had an unusual life. An 'Orthodox' Chabad rabbi, he has earned riches from sexual advice, such as his international best-selling book 'Kosher Sex' (serialised in 'Playboy'), 'The Jewish Guide to Adultery' (suggesting that one should make a marriage like a 'naughty affair'), and 'Kosher Lust: Love is Not the Answer'. 

Boteach's daughter Chana established 'Kosher Sex' a Tel Aviv shop selling intimacy products.

Born in the USA in 1966, as a boy Boteach's future was foreseen and sponsored by the famous Chabad leader, Lubavitcher Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson.

Young Boteach worked briefly establishing a Jewish yeshiva in Australia, and was then sent to the UK, where in 1989 he founded a hugely successful Chabad centre, the 'L'Chaim Society', at Oxford.

Schmuley briefly fell out of favour with Chabad after Rebbe Schneerson died in 1994, but comforted himself with buying a £900,000 house in London, per the London Jewish Chronicle.

Boteach became a popular UK Channel 4 TV personality, shouting back at Arabs complaining about Palestinians dying.

The rabbi's celebrity relationships include close ties to the late pop star Michael Jackson, documented in the rabbi's book, "The Michael Jackson Tapes: A Tragic Icon Reveals His Soul in Intimate Conversation," based on private recordings.

In March 2001, Boteach, Michael Jackson and Uri Geller all appeared at an Oxford event together.
