Can any state be truly independent?

Think of Greece or Vietnam or Haiti or Cuba or Scotland.

Prof. James Petras, at Global Research, points out that Vietnam has become a vassal state.

Vietnam's current 'Communist' rulers "have turned-over Vietnam's markets, industries, ports, resources and labour to the 500 largest Western and Asian multi-national corporations."

Today Vietnam allows US naval visits and signs military agreements "to tighten the imperialist military encirclement of China."

Vietnam offers cheap labour, "at wages less than half that paid to Chinese workers to 'entice' multi-nationals.

What has caused Vietnam to become a colony?

1. The USA, at the end of the Vietnam war, employed a policy of boycott and sanctions against Vietnam.

2. The US "secretly supported the Khmer Rouge, the Cambodian terror regime, in its war on liberated Vietnam."

The Khmer Rouge were like ISIS, a tool of the USA.

3. At the end of the Vietnam war, Vietnam's communist regime became corrupt and inefficient.

4. Russia, under Gorbachev, cut off its aid to Vietnam.

By 1980, China began its transition to capitalism.

Vietnam decided to copy China and Russia.
