The problem with the Al Aqsa mosque, however, is it sits directly on the site of the proposed 3rd incarnation of Solomon's Temple. This matter because it fits prophetic narrative in end times eschatology and would be a step closer to ushering in the Messiah.
Jewish texts predict that the Mount will be the site of the 3rd temple which will be rebuilt with the coming of the Messiah. The rebuilding of the Temple remained a recurring theme among generations, particularly in the Amidah prayer, the central prayer of Jewish liturgy, which contains a plea for the building of a Third Temple. A number of vocal Jewish groups now advocate building the Third Temple without delay in order to bring to pass God's "end-time prophetic plans for Israel and the entire world'.
