Many or most of us reading this blog will be fans, to a lesser or greater extent, of some late 20th century or 21st century popular music in one or other of its many guises and sub genres: from rock to hiphop, R&B. pop, rap, metal, electronic EDM, show tunes, etc
Nevertheless, we should be educated about the origins of modern popular music.
We should recognize that modern popular music and many of its most influential ‘pioneers’ and progenitors, from Elvis Presley to Michael Jackson, the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, Guns N Roses, Madonna, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, etc, etc, are (and have been since at least the 1950s) vehicles for those seeking to radically alter Western culture: its prevailing norms, mores, values, opinions, beliefs, attitudes, family patterns, sex and gender roles, economic organization, social organization, behavioural practices, religious characteristics, and other defining characteristics.
In short, much or most popular music in its current post Second World War guises is to a large extent part of, or has been co-opted into, a psy op.
