Maybe thoughts for a holiday? Lewis looks beautifully bleak. Where two I most most-admire lived; Peggy and Christine Smith (pray-ers). Yowsa, d'speak Gaelic in Barvas. All to do is dig and fish. Gotta be tough-tough hard - but look at that - ...Happy.

This may have as much to do with socio-economic factors as location. Nowhere's grim if you have enough money and a stable life.
