Personal care is free in care homes in Scotland for adults who are assessed, by the local authority, as needing it.
Some local authorities have VERY strict rules !
In Scotland, Personal care includes tasks such as:
Personal hygiene (Getting a bath safely),
Help relating to falls (checking for falls, picking person up, and checking for bruises etc),
Mealtime support, Immobility problems, Medication (some kept by nurse), and General wellbeing.
We know of old people in care homes in Scotland who are NOT getting the free personal care that they need.
