Why are all menorahs with NINE candles. I'm 68 years old, and all my life, until about 20 years ago, menorahs were ALWAYS just SEVEN. One jew told me that it's 'something about the Talmud' ... which doesn't sound like a good thing to me LOL ... he didn't or couldn't clarify that. No other jew I've asked admitted to having even noticed it. But I've noticed it -- in the Bronx NY heavily Jewish neighborhood my Dad used to live in, the really old menorahs you saw in apartment windows always were (and still are) of the 7 candle variety. The glitzy modern electronic ones are always 9 candles.
