Whitehall and Trafalgar Square

Unknown commented on "Anti-semitism"

Was passing through Whitehall and Trafalgar Square yesterday afternoon. The pro Palestinian demo was interesting. A largely family affair, (family affair being the next level up from peaceful).

It had an almost carnival atmosphere to it. Only possible when the demonstrators are peaceful and the Police too. The Police were out in massive numbers and there were 2 Police helicopters overhead at any one time. The Police were dressed for wet weather and were wearing baseball caps. Their attire was not combative and although the TSG were present, were not trying to cause any difficulties or maintain a threatening presence. Despite their huge numbers, were keeping a low profile and 'spotting' rather than anything more sinister (to their credit).

Nice to see the Jewish Voice for Labour and Jewish Network for Palestine well represented with their banners. That said, no self respecting demo 'worth its salt' could take part without the Socialist Worker likewise (a very organised and visual presence). My favourite, however, was a sign with 'queers for Palestine' (lol).

A couple of clowns at the Cenotaph later in the day sporting Israeli flags and Union Jacks. They must have been bitterly disappointed when no one attacked them as they hid behind the Police. It felt like an act of provoking the crowd. To be fair though, nothing at all wrong with any flag, just the crude attempt at inflaming a large crowd for political kudos.

Once everyone got the ubiquitous selfies and rain threatened, the event dispersed quietly (as might be expected).

Presumably either unreported by the MSM or suggestions on the BBC that the turnout was about 20% of the true number?

I did mention that pathetic attempt at causing trouble. Literally a couple of 'tossers' waving flags at the end of the day trying to look hard as they hid behind a couple of Police.

Indeed, representative of the days events.

Yes, really!!!!! Any chance you can 'post' anything more than this single event? A low level event, a minor arrest from one 'swivel eyed loon'.

The arrest looks real enough, however, no other context is available. UK Police have a long history of contriving events and using agent provocateurs (like at the Cenotaph).

A couple of clients with flags 'trying to cause trouble' and failing.

How do you think it might end if a couple of Rangers supporters turned up at Parkhead waving Red Hand of Ulster flags and chanting??

Not very well eh?
