St Porphyrius Church in Gaza, believed to be the third oldest Christian church existing in the world, has been hit by the Israelis.
Born in Thessaloniki in AD 374, Saint Porphyrius was bishop of Gaza from AD 395 to AD 420
St Porphyrios church dates back to AD 407. A new church was built in the 12th century [about the year 1190] by crusaders. It was last renovated in 1856.

A new church was built in the 12th century [about the year 1190] by crusaders. It was last renovated in 1856; today, only a few cornices and bases remain from the crusader period.
