Ukraine and Russia - arresting lots of people

Anonymous -

Ukraine and Russia are both arresting a lot of people

Both are also attacking church clergy in relation to the war

It's not a pretty picture on either side

Kiev Mayor Vitaly Klitschko - whose grandmother is Jewish - "ordered the closure of 74 churches belonging to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, citing alleged ties to the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church".

Ukraine of course rounding up males young and old to force them to die in minefields and in drone attacks, and arresting those helping them evade conscription

And then Gonzalo Lira and other dissidents arrested, for speaking negatively about the war or corruption from Ukraine territory

Many in the West are inclined to favour Russia because of opposition to NATO and Western imperialism, and because of Russian conservative social values re LGBT, gender, religion

But Russians tell a sad story of dissidents arrested in Russia
no less than in Ukraine, many more than just Russia's leading opposition figure, nationalist Igor Girkin 'Strelkov' in jail

Russian monk and priest Ioann Kurmoyarov - detained the previous year in 2022, and degraded in church standing - has now been sentenced to jail for three years

Slavland Chronicles - 'pro-Russian' in its way - speaks about the escalating situation of vague Russian laws that are being used to arrest critics and subtly terrify the public

In Russia, you can neither be against the war, nor be for the war but say it is being run badly ... nor even say it is a 'war' rather than a 'special military operation'

In one extreme case, Russia arrested a 17-year-old-boy, who merely posted a link to an article about Prigozhin and Wagner possibly having obtained 'nuclear weapons', the boy commenting that he hoped it wasn't true ... the boy still arrested for 'linking to false information' ... after some outcry the boy was let go by the court.

That story here in an article also discussing the jailed Russian priest Kurmoyarov
