This statement is quite astonishing in that it states that all a human being does is shop, travel and go to the bank. If you want to meet people, join a sports club, an allotment society, a theatre group, a cooking class. There's nothing that anyone can do to stop local people organising these things, and anyone that tries to stop it should be given 12 hours to get out of town permanently. Meeting people is a personal act, you don't need governments, schools, teachers, the media, influencers or any other pseudo 'elite' people to tell you how or where to do it.
I agree that society needs to address the needs of the elderly, the infirm etc, but to suggest that talking to people only happens in supermarkets, banks and at train stations is a joke.
Fi was not suggesting that conversation only occurs in those places, she was lamenting the fact that conversation will no longer occur at those places. Tsk, so quick to cancel !
