Daniil Lyashuk is a former member of the Tornado Battalion, nicknamed "Mujahid". In 2017, after the battalion was disbanded, he was accused of a number of crimes and put on trial. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, but he did not serve half of his sentence.

The members of the battalion were charged at the trial with: kidnapping and holding civilians in their own prison; sophisticated torture with an electric generator and other means; rape and murder of civilians.

Lyashuk himself actively participated in the processes: according to him, "Without torture, life would not be life. Nothing raises the tone so much when you have someone's life in your hands."
