The mother of the Nashville school shooter appeared to be a gun control activist who once urged friends on Facebook to sign a petition calling to keep firearms out of schools.
“So important!” Norma Hale wrote in a March 8, 2018 Facebook post as she shared the petition that stated “Keep Guns Out of School” that appeared to be from the Sandy Hook Promise Foundation.
In another post from Feb. 21, 2018, Hale shared another petition from Sandy Hook Promise urging lawmakers to “Make Large-Capacity Gun Magazines Illegal.”

Last May, in Uvalde, Texas, 19 children and two teachers were killed at an elementary school.
More recently, a six-year-old shot his teacher in Virginia
And a high-school student in Colorado shot two administrators.
According to the K-12 School Shooting Database resource, there have been at least 89 instances of gun violence at kindergarten through 12th-grade schools or during school activities in the US this year.
The Nashville shooting was the 128th US mass shooting this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive, which defines a mass shooting as one where at least four people are wounded or killed, not counting the attacker.

‘White nationalist cult’?
US census figures reveal that almost half of Nashville is categorized as ‘non-white’. (This figure may have increased since the 2020 census was conducted).
Specifically: about a quarter (24%) of Nashville residents are Black, some 14% are categorized as Latino, around 4% Asian, and some 5% classed as mixed, American Indian or ‘other’.
In a city that is almost 50% ‘non-white’, the Covenant School in Nashville apparently maintained an *overwhelmingly* White student body and teaching faculty, with the only people of color apparently the custodians (95%+ white?)

Photos of the Covenant Presbyterian Church appear to show a congregation that is 99%+ white.
On first appearances, the school and its sponsoring church present almost like a white nationalist cult.

Neo ‘Segregation Academy’?
The Covenant School of Nashville meets the criteria of a neo Segregation Academy.
That is, the Covenant School appears to strategically utilize annual Tuition Fees as a ‘legal’ barrier to prevent minority ethnic students from attending — thereby preserving its unspoken segregationist ethos.
The parents, faculty, administration and sponsoring church are all ‘in on it’, without anything needing to be admitted, much less spelled out.
Annual Tuition and other fees at the Covenant School of Nashville are up to $18,000 per year, per child. Thus, for a student attending the School from kindergarten through 6th grade, the total cost for tuition and activity fees would amount to some $125,000.
Parents with 2 kids would be looking at a minimum schooling bill of *a quarter-of-a-million dollars* -- even before the costs of school supplies, musical instruments, etc.
(Of course, the Covenant School can optionally award Financial Aid to families that meet its criteria. This means Financial Aid will almost be awarded predominantly to existing church members with children — overwhelmingly white; parents with kids at the School now or in the past — also overwhelmingly white; and the administration and faculty with children, plus their relatives and buddies with children — also overwhelmingly white)

Very quickly, we can diagnose everyone in the entire world as ‘mentally ill’. Certainly Jesus and the prophets, the saints and the spiritual.
What useful purpose does it accomplish to simply label & brand hundreds of millions, or billions, of global citizens in this way, even if, in a sense, true?
‘Mental wellness’/ ‘mental health’ / ‘mental balance’ — if the concept has any practical meaning at all — is surely a continuum that each and every one of us is on.
I’m not arguing that someone who identifies as a sex and/or gender other than their birth sex/gender is, or is not, ‘mentally ill’.
I have no idea.
I’m saying that ALL of us fall somewhere on a spectrum of mentally well—mentally unwell. And where we fall will change over the minutes, hours, days, months, and years.
And few if any of us are qualified to define precisely *which* opinions, attitudes, worldviews, self-identities, appearances, behaviors, and practices denote ‘mental wellness’, and which speak to ‘mental illness’.
Above all, how would a ‘normal’ person survive in this ‘abnormal’ crazy world, anyway, without getting — in the words of the singer Seal — “a little crazy”?
Surely even (especially) the most truly ‘normal’, or ‘mentally balanced’, among us could only dissent from the ‘madness’ we see everywhere by acting up and refusing to ‘play the part’ and pretend as if everything were perfectly okay, when it is not?
So, for example, the historical figure referred to as Jesus choosing to ‘take his own life’ as it were (through submitting to extreme torture and painful death which he might have avoided by playacting ‘normal’), might be a signifier of his mental insanity. Or, it might be signify the opposite.
