This yearning for a dictator is poking up more often, including amongst disaffected youth.
Interesting question whether it is being actively fostered by the powers that be. We have:
- 'Far right' against war-mongering
- 'Far right' against lockdowns and vaccine mandates
- 'Far right' against crime and for 'social stability'
Related ideas go back to Aristotle, who said politics always goes through a cycle. Aristotle said that like all other political arrangements, democracy also tends to degenerate, because 'demagogues' - today we might say 'media manipulators' - eventually prey upon weaknesses of voters.
Some of Western Europe achieved a certain height these past decades, the near-total elimination of poverty and need amongst all (legal) residents. But that is now collapsing, and Western Europe is becoming a place with more poverty, and levels of crime and squalor that create a shock for Asian tourists on their first visit to 'great Western cities'.
There was democracy and voting, but something went wrong. People were not 'happy' tho not poor. Relationships became less warm, family life faded, and economic life got worse too.
We know there are manipulators of the public, who are difficult to fight ... a 'strong leader' to stop these evil forces, is a historic human temptation.
A common pointed ironic joke by young people on 4chan /pol/ is to mention some awful news, and then add, 'And then one day, people elected Hitler for no reason at all ... '

Darwin wasn't wrong and there is no pseudo science to debate. The whole thing was a deliberate, monstrous lie from start.
Unfortunately, like Covid, managed to con everyone for decades. I wonder what else they have been lying about? Just think we are about 2 generations away from 100 genders being a scientific fact.
We may laugh at the younger generations believing that unscientific nonsense. However, most of the Western world and many other places besides genuinely believed they used to be a fish.
