Endo, the American drugmaker behind the opioid products Percocet and Opana, filed for bankruptcy last August over debt and US opioid litigation.

Last year the city of San Francisco reached a settlement with Endo after the drugmaker allegedly “‘flooded’ the community with prescription opioids without corrective measures to prevent the drugs from being diverted to illegal use.”

Endo is facing a total of 3,100 lawsuits related to its opioid products.

According to former US Food and Drug Administration commissioner David Kessler: “Endo ‘incentivized’ its sales reps to meet the goal of ‘pushing higher doses’ to … Percocet”.

Days before Endo filed for bankruptcy, it “paid chief executive BLAISE COLEMAN an $11.85 million bonus.

“It was, in fact, the latest installment of an eye-popping $55.5 million in pre-bankruptcy bonuses paid over 10 months to Coleman and three other top executives at the drug firm, which faces potentially huge legal liability for its part in the nation’s opioid epidemic.”

Blaise Coleman “held a number of finance leadership roles with AstraZeneca” before joining Endo in January 2015.

“Prior to that, he was the Head of Finance for the AstraZeneca Global Medicines Development organization … Mr Coleman joined AstraZeneca in 2007 …”
