The campaign is behind unexplained explosions and fires that have hit strategic or prominent facilities in recent months, says US expert Jack Murphy, an Army Special Operations veteran.

A British op in Iran ?
TEHRAN – Seven persons who were instrumental in leading riots in the city of Kerman have been apprehended, the Kerman provincial branch of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) announced in a statement late on Sunday.

The public relations office of the IRGC in Kerman province announced the detainees were members of an organized network connected to Britain.

The statement added some of those arrested have dual nationality.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said on Sunday that it identified and arrested seven leaders of a group allegedly involved in subversive activities and linked with UK secret services during recent mass protests in the country.
"An organized group called Zagros, which was led by agents from the UK and created a team of active counterrevolutionary elements inside and outside the country to lead subversive activities, especially during recent protests, has been identified as a result of a successful operation," the IRGC said in a statement, as quoted by the Iranian media.
The IRGC noted that it arrested seven leaders of the group in the province of Kerman and identified their contacts with foreign agents.
Violent riots broke out in Iran in mid-September in connection with the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who passed away while in police custody after being detained for wearing an "improper" hijab. Many Iranian citizens accused the controversial morality police of Amini's death, alleging that officers hit her in the head during questioning.
Protests turned violent in their 2.5-month course, with rioters attacking clerics, abbots of Iranian mosques, members of Iran's security and major military structures. In addition, two terrorist attacks took place in the country in late October and early November, with attackers shelling groups of civilians and police officers.
Tehran believes the unrest has been instigated from abroad. Iranian law enforcement agencies have been carrying out mass arrests of people suspected of having been recruited by the intelligence services of Western countries, Israel and Saudi Arabia.

On December 17, former US secretary of state and CIA director, Mike Pompeo, headlined an Organization of Iranian American Communities summit in Washington in support of the so-called “uprising” in Iran, amid his push for Republican candidacy in the 2024 elections.

Pompeo used the appearance to tout his central role in the Trump administration’s hawkish stance toward Tehran, which saw Washington impose a welter of crippling economic sanctions on the country, unilaterally walk out of the landmark nuclear deal, and assassinate the famed anti-terror commander General Qassem Soleimani, among other hostile and unprovoked acts.

”Our administration used every tool at our disposal to level and eliminate power from the [Iranian] regime,” the hawkish former top American diplomat boasted.

“While I can’t say too much about my work while I was the CIA’s director, you should know that our cooperation with allied nations to reduce its external capabilities had a real impact.”

Pompeo went on to praise the incendiary foreign-backed riots that have rocked the country since mid-September, claiming hundreds of precious lives.

CIA, along with British and Saudi intelligence, funded MKO to the tune of $3 billion to destabilize Afghanistan and fight the Red Army, following the Soviet Union’s invasion of Kabul in 1979.

California-based academic Mark Mason has dubbed the effort “the single most expensive US covert foreign operation since the inception of the CIA” in 1947.
