FEDERICO FELLINI

Federico Fellini (right) with Pier Paolo Pasolini

Federico Fellini, 1920 - 1993, was an Italian film director and screenwriter.

"In most respects, Fellini the man was an archetypal Italian male - an overgrown momma's boy, always having affairs of varying duration, always running back to his wife, Giulietta Masina." - Scott Eyman.

"Amarcord, loosely based on the director's 1968 autobiographical essay My Rimini,[64], depicts the adolescent Titta and his friends working out their sexual frustrations against the religious and Fascist backdrop of a provincial town in Italy during the 1930s."

...

"Life is a combination of magic and pasta." - Fellini.

...

"There is abundant testimony that if we choose love rather than self, we gain immeasurably." - Fellini.

...

"Never lose your childish enthusiasm - and things will come your way." - Fellini.

...

"I know I live in a fantasy world. I prefer it that way and resent anything that disturbs my vision" - Federico Fellini.

...

"Fellini flirted overtly with women but made his closest relationships with a succession of young gay assistants, among them Pier Paolo Pasolini." - John Baxter

...

"Real religion should be something that liberates men. But churches don't want free men who can think for themself and find their own divinity within." - Fellini.
