One of the attorneys on the Epstein/Dershowitz case is Paul Cassell, who teaches law at the University of Utah.

I wonder though,
why would a wealthy scumbag such as Epstein bother with girls from down the street? Aren't we led to believe (and there's a lot of evidence for this, beginning I suppose with the Dutroux Affair) that there are rings that procure girls and boys to be used for this purpose? Did Epstein not want to pay for the service? Was/is Epstein a victim of his own niggardly predisposition? And what of his rich and famous guests? Did they assume Epstein had his bases covered only to find out later (at least some) of the girls were alive and prepared to speak out?
Also, have you come across the name Ron Burkle in relation to this story? Burkle was a well known bird dog back in the day and Bill and Ron were tight at one time.
Lots of questions....
I do though love Dershowitz's knee-jerk playing of the 'anti-semitism' card. Why play the trump card this early in the game? Me thinks he's legitimately worried....

I think these girls were cheap and plentiful both or his personal use and his blackmail/influence schemes. Most of them were bad girls from the bad side of town, so to speak, apparently his lawyers dug up lots of dirt on them, perhaps at least partly why they were reluctant to cooperate.

They knew what they were doing. They were prostitutes and strippers before they interacted with Epstein.

“Does that mean we should let every child molester go because we can’t find a teenager with no baggage?” Kuvin said. “He specifically sought out girls who were damaged — emotionally or otherwise. He went after poor, underprivileged, troubled girls so that he could take advantage of them and no one would question it. What if he was going after young girls on Palm Beach island? I guarantee things would have been different. He was bottom fishing in Royal Palm Beach and got away with it.”

Lawyers for SG, the 14-year-old whose stepmother initially triggered the investigation into Epstein, for example, accused Epstein in a lawsuit of cynically seeking out 'economically disadvantaged underage girls' who would be 'less likely to complain to authorities or have credibility if allegations of improper conduct were made'."

(I think in the short term Epstein's indulgence in multiple pedophile "massage" activities per day was his undoing, but in the longer term, with the blackmail/influence girls speaking out this becomes more than a sordid little tale and leads us into the realm of deep politics.)
