JIMMY SAVILE: Did Keir Starmer know all along?

DAVID MADDOX writes:

“… [Before Jimmy Savile’s] death there had been an opportunity to prosecute him but the Crown Prosecution Service under Starmer's leadership ditched the case …

“[Some have] questioned publicly why the CPS under Starmer did not pursue what was the last opportunity to bring Savile to justice.

“The CPS lawyer in charge of the case has not been identified, including in the investigation Starmer instructed Alison Levitt to conduct in 2012.

“In 2012 Starmer publicly acknowledged that the CPS under his leadership was one of the public bodies to let down Savile's victims but he denied any responsibility.

“Despite Savile being a high-profile figure and the case being extremely sensitive, Starmer has said that he was not informed of the details of the case or the decision not to proceed with a prosecution …

Regev ....

“How can a man who wants to hold the most complex brief in the country simply not interest himself in high-profile cases such as Savile …? …

“Why did he apparently not ask questions or request updates? …

“… [There] is enough doubt about his ignorance to wonder whether his ‘not me gov’ response to everything is completely true.

“That is the most disturbing aspect … because if he knew then he would have greenlighted a very famous celebrity not facing justice …”
