Armenia - Azerbaijan fighting renewing, oil prices rising

Armenia again reminding the world Russia is not a very strong or loyal ally

In 5 cases - Armenia, Syria, Transnistria, Georgia, and Ukraine - Russia's allies stay in some existence, but not without humiliation and remaining under threat and in conflict.

Fighting again in Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijan 'anti-terrorist' operations, Armenia urging Russia intervention to 'stop Azeri aggression'

Armenia lost a major war with Azerbaijain in 2020, Azeris aided by Turkey and Israel ... Russia not intervening actively, despite Armenia being a member of Russia's 'NATO', the CSTO Collective Security Treaty Organisation.

Russia's lack of effective aid to Armenia in that war and now, is remarkable given how many elites in Moscow have Armenian heritage, such as Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and RT news head Margarita Simonyan.

In multiple places Russia has intervened over decades, Russia seems to stop halfway - the West and its partners do not 'win', but the area remains in conflict, as if under permanent 'strategy of tension'

In 2015 Russia intervened to save Assad's government in Syria, where Russia has a naval base. Some say Russia succeeded thanks primarily to Prigozhin's Wagner - but fighting continues, US troops still occupy parts of Syria, and humiliating Israeli bombings and attacks on Syria are a regular occurrence, with Russia merely 'protesting' but not impeding the attacks.

In 1992 Transnistria - separating from Moldova and next to Ukraine - was aided by Russia, and Russian troops are still there, a territory in limbo, possibly to be part of the Ukraine war, should Russians enter in to nearby Odessa.

In 2008 Russia fought with Georgia over territories of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, areas still in tension and dispute.

In 2014, alongside Russia's Crimea annexation and the Ukrainian massacre in Odessa, the Donbass region in Ukraine rebelled against Kiev. Russia supplied arms for many years whilst many thousands died, but did not intervene actively until 2022. Both Russia and the West talk of war there for more years to come.

Always the same non-conclusion, it seems, when you need to rely on Russia to help you.
