Kochavi (outgoing Israeli army Chief of Staff) is willing to withdraw the Israeli border police from the West Bank if it would limit Ben-Gvir’s influence on the Israeli army
A special report by Israeli TV Channel 12 revealed that outgoing Israeli army Chief of Staff (CoS) Aviv Kochavi informed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of his decision not to follow orders issued by his coalition ministers.
Kochavi’s words were in reference to ministers Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir, who have been granted extended power by Netanyahu under the coalition deal to influence the Israeli army’s chain of command.

Benny Gantz headed the Israeli Ministry of Defense from May 2020 until the end of 2022. He is also the leader of the opposition centre-right National Unity Party and chairman of the Kahol Lavan faction in the Knesset.
Speaking at a meeting of his faction, Gantz criticized the government’s plan for judicial reform, noting that it would lead the country into a “civil war.”
He also urged Israelis not to sit at home and take to the streets. “It’s time to demonstrate en masse; it’s time to shake up the country” – said the Israeli politician, declaring the need to protect democracy.
A similar appeal was made by the leader of another opposition party, Yesh Atid, Yair Lapid (former prime minister). According to him, the government’s actions lead to the “destruction of democracy” in Israel. He also called for the continuation and intensification of the street demonstrations that had started in Israel earlier
