'The bombshell allegations, which also include claims of Goguen ordering his security chief to kill detractors, are contained in a lengthy civil complaint recently filed in United States District Court for the District of Montana.
'According to the court papers, Goguen, 57, employs hundreds of residents in companies he controls, and owns a series of luxury “safe houses” where he takes dozens of young women for sex. He has a spreadsheet documenting his sexual encounters with 5,000 women.

In 1835 Carl Bertelsmann’s began printing hymnals, prayer-books and a faith-based Westphalian newspaper. Carl sowed and reaped Evangelical revivalism. His son Heinrich added romantic novels to their traditionalist oeuvre. Heinrich’s only child, Fredericka, married loyal employee, Johannes Mohn, who took over operations upon Heinrich’s passing.
Johannes’ son, Heinrich, was an early donor to the Nazis, as were his pastor and church. Heinrich joined the SS, as did his son Reinhard (1921-2009). Bertelsmann’s in-house theologian was pro-Nazi. Bertelsmann’s top-selling poet wrote the speech inaugurating the 1933 book-burnings.
With wares freighted with Volkish and anti-Semitic content, Bertelsmann became the Third Reich’s largest publisher. In 1943 they ‘sold’ 19 million books. They supplied special editions to the Wehrmacht and boosted profits by exploiting slave labor in Eastern Europe and Holland.
Post-WWII Bertelsmann stayed afloat partly by having hoarded paper but mainly by transferring control to Reinhard, whom Allied commanders found palatable. Reinhard spent much of WWII in a Kansas POW camp. Bertelsmann printed books commissioned by British intelligence.

ReplyDeleteChristianity came to the Hellenic world from the Middle East: from Palestine to Syria, from there to Asia Minor and Cyprus, then to the Balkan Peninsula and Egypt, and soon also to the Greek cities of Italy and Sicily, and finally to Rome itself - the capital of the empire who adopted Hellenic culture. Hence, it can be assumed that in the East one should look for both the historical predecessors of Christianity and the roots of the "anti-Hellenic" polemic.

But this collection of very ancient and newer texts, created by Jewish authors, says very little, or better to say, practically nothing about Greece and the Greeks. To what extent the Bible was known to the Hellenes, we also cannot say anything definite about this, although we know that already in the III century. BC. The Pentateuch and the books of prophecy were translated into Greek (the so-called "translation of the seventy commentators," or the Septuagint).
In any case, the statement that, for example, the attacks directed against the Jews by some Greek-speaking authors who wrote about the Jews are the forerunners of the polemic of Hellenism against Christians, definitely requires proof. A broader context is needed, which would make it possible to first make sure that such a comparison is at all possible.
We see such a context in the history of the relationship of Hellenism with the peoples of the Middle East: after all, Judaism, from which Christianity emerged, was intimately connected with the surrounding Middle Eastern cultures.
Therefore, we will have to start from afar. It will focus on the situation that developed in the Middle East in the IV-III centuries. BC. as a result of the military campaign of the Macedonian tsar Alexander against the "great tsar" Darius III, who ruled a power, somewhat conditionally referred to as Persia. The convention is that this state does not coincide with Persia-Iran of later times either in terms of territory, language or religion. Geographically Iran was only a small part of that power; its official language was not Persian (belonging to the Indo-European family of languages), but Aramaic (from the family of Semitic languages); Islam, of course, in that era simply did not exist, as for the "semi-monotheistic" Zoroastrianism, it was alien to most of the "pagan" polytheistic) population of this huge and fairly decentralized eastern empire.
