THAI SHOOTING - KORAT FEB 2020

Jakrapanth Thomma

The Nakhon Ratchasima shooting occurred between 8 and 9 February 2020.

The Thai province of Nakhon Ratchasima is colloquially known as Korat.

A Thai soldier launched a shooting rampage that killed 30 people - including a 13-year-old boy - and injured 57 others because he was angry about a 'house deal', the country's leader has said.

Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha told reporters on Sunday the soldier, Jakrapanth Thomma, was involved in a land dispute with a relative of his commanding officer.

It was a personal conflict… over a house deal,” said Mr Chan-ocha at a press briefing in the northeastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima, where the attack took place on Saturday.

Jakrapanth Thomma was eventually shot dead by security forces.[3]

The rampage began when the perpetrator shot and killed his commanding officerColonel Anantharot Krasaeand two others at Surathamphithak Camp, the base where he was stationed.

The suspect then stole weapons and a military Humvee and drove to the Terminal 21 Korat mall, where he opened fire on shoppers.[4]

During the attack, the suspect posted updates and shared a live stream on social media.[3]

It is the deadliest mass shooting in the country's history.[5]

Thailand.

Thailand's go-go bars, karaoke rooms, and massage parlours tend to be protected by top people in the military and police.

Almost every important 'mafia' in the world operates in Thailand, often in league with top Thais.

A visit to Pattaya can lead to reduced life expectancy.

I think it’s time for the military to hand in their guns because they don’t have the control over their emotional state and are too childish to own guns - they always have there finger on the trigger and then when they have a tantrum, they can’t help it.
Big babies
Perhaps it’s time for responsible gun owners

I've lived in Pattaya for 15 years, its only detrimental to your health if you come here to commit crime. We do have a long history of jumpers from tall condos but that's more to do with not wanting to face the reality of having to go home to their own countries. I dont drink so bars have zero interest to me, I moved here for work and stayed as its a great place to live and bring up a family. It's changed massively over the last 6 or 7 years, not nearly as much sex tourism as before which is a good thing. Lots of families come here on holiday, mainly Russian.

Nonsense, its extremely rare for the military to kill anyone here, its the police you have to be careful of. Its got better since the military took over.
