Moat Brae is a Georgian townhouse designed by Walter Newall in Dumfries, Scotland.

It was built in 1823 in the Greek revival style. 

J. M. Barrie, creator of Peter Pan, played in the house and garden as a child from the ages of 13-18 whilst at school at Dumfries Academy.

We visited on Sunday afternoon as Moat Brae is closed all day Monday. Our entrance to the house and garden was £6.50 each but if you just want to visit the café and look at the shop in the entrance; that's free. There's lots of...More

Popped in for a look around as only opened on saturday if you wish to see the exhibitions you have to pay however can visit the wee shop or cafe which is what we did pity you cannot sit out in the stunning gardens however...More

Utterly magical experience...stunning garden, pirate ship, Wendy house, crocodile sculptures... inside rooms for the adults to find out about JM Barrie... upstairs children’s reading room, kids bedroom with flying Peter Pan and Tinkerbells fairy dust.... dressing up room with stage... and lots more
