"Why was there NO DNA or blood in Aaron Campbell's house when he returned, kicked off his clothes and left them in a heap in the bathroom before going out in just his bare feet and shorts?
"Clearly no DNA was found on these garments or it would have been mentioned.
"And at the McPhail’s home no DNA, no finger prints of the accused boy on the light switches or doors.
"How was it possible for him to enter a dark, unknown flat, 15 years old and very drunk and not wake four adults?

ReplyDeleteIs anyone else getting this and questioning our what-is-fed reality? The Mirror report, for instance, is as bizarro as the gets. For a whole host of reasons. Not hard to spot the crazy inclusions and nuts typo. Let alone comparing the one (or two?) from other other rags. What little there is reveals anomalies. A gaping need is for the 'accused' detailed explanation and what otherwise said/doing? The missing bit and pieces of the said-puzzle. Total freak-show of a tragedy. Of course, he could be guilty as, but come on... it's screaming we suffer more madness. Could be the crappy Press as normal but it's not an easy swallow. Oh for the court transcripts, assuming anything like appropriate question's asked.

DeleteSo many details shift around in every way. The testimonies, as presented, contain glairing inconsistencies. A simple detail, for example as to whether the door to the flat was left unlocked/locked/open is muddy and confused. We are told that residents on Bute regularly leave their doors open. But in her testimony we are told a key was left in the lock accidently, by Angela King that night. We are also told the key was left there regularly so that family could let themselves in. So, what is the truth? It must be easy to establish. Why is simple fact so confused? Was the key in the door and/or the door unlocked? If the door was unlocked why mention the key? Was the key on the inside or outside of the door of the flat or was the key in the lock of the heavy close door? Was the close door unlocked? Was the key a Yale? Did AC need to use the key to enter or not? Was the key finger printed? Why would a drug dealer leave his door unlocked, even on Bute? Most importantly, why are we only allowed to see footage of Aaron Campbell returning to his house? Why are we unable to view the footage of him leaving at 2.54/2.57 reported by his mother (inexplicably disparate times when CCTV is exact)? Surely it is hugely important to see what he is wearing/carrying at that point yet we aren’t allowed to see it. He is reported to have been dressed all in black. He returns minus the black hoody but is wearing a light t-shirt and black jeans. My question is this – where do the grey jogging bottoms and boxer shorts come into all this? It was a hot summer night, are we to believe that a young boy went out wearing a pair of boxers, then thick joggers underneath a pair of jeans? Or did he take the joggers with him in his hands? Why would he take the jogging bottoms when he had just set off to buy hash or was the murder and rape premeditated by a drunk 15 year old?
ReplyDeleteAre we to believe he phoned Alesha’s dad and his girlfriend minutes before he decided to go and kill her? Hardly arch villain material. If he KNEW he would need separate clothes because of DNA why google it the next day? How could a clever 16 year old not know how DNA works or understand a little about forensics? Either he naively googled DNA or knew enough to wear different clothes and dump them in the sea, which is it? Either, he randomly stumbled along and took her by chance or he had taken clothes with him in which to do it? Which was it? It can’t be both. He was wearing all black, so I repeat – where did he hide the joggers? Did he carry spare clothes as well as Alesha as he walked her to her death?
Questions, questions…Why did the joggers and boxers get dumped on the beach when he didn’t know about DNA? Why did he take the knife/dump the knife when it was not used in the crime? Alesha was not stabbed, she was asphyxiated. Why would he not just take the unused knife back and wipe it and return it to the block? Why was there NO DNA or blood in his house when he returned, kicked off his clothes and left them in a heap in the bathroom before going out in just his bare feet and shorts? Clearly no DNA was found on these garments or it would have been mentioned. But this is impossible. How could he avoid contamination from the murder? Did he strip off, then put back on his black jeans and go to the shore to dump the joggers? There would be blood and DNA. Yet we know he left his clothes on the floor and took a shower. Why didn’t he wash the clothes if he knew enough to dump the joggers in the sea? No mention of him laundering his clothes.
ReplyDeleteAnd at the McPhail’s home no DNA, no finger prints of the accused boy on the light switches or doors. How was it possible for him to enter a dark, unknown flat, 15 years old and very drunk and not wake four adults? How did he enter Alesha’s room, pick her up and remove her without waking her? How did he know her room? How did he get her out of the flat, drunk but silently clutching a 6 year old? How did he carry her down all the stairs and hold her while opening the heavy close door without alerting anyone? Why did the girl never wake up and scream as he walked through suburban streets to take her to the derelict hotel? What possible motive would this boy have to do this crime? He had never met the girl, didn’t know her name, was sleeping with her father’s girlfriend and buying hash from them both. Why would he kill her?
Her father that was a domestically violent, porn using, unemployed hash dealer. What kind of porn was he watching on the night she died? Was he abusing his daughter? Was he smoking hash in the house around her? Nothing to do with the family is examined, it is all painted as some jolly life beside the sea, but we know this is not the case. We know that Rab and Toni were regularly and violently arguing and that he is on a charge of domestic violence yet this was glossed over. What role does her father have in this?
And Toni? We know she was jealous of the child, it is alleged she said it was for the best that Alesha had died. Could she have met Aaron Campbell as he says, had smoke and a chat where she confided in him that Rab had attacked her? Could they then have gone to a garage and had sex with a condom she brought? Did he give her his black hoodie as he suggests as she was cold?
Did she remove the condom, return home and carry Alesha to her death? This is what AC alleges - that she planned and fanaticised about killing Alesha and deliberately implicated him. He claims he didn’t mention being with her as he was scared Rab would attack her when his mum and police asked at first. He said he had been out using cannabis but didn’t mention meeting Toni.
AC claims he lost his jogging bottoms/boxers in the sea whilst diving into the harbour on the Friday before Alesha’s death. He claims he was alone when they fell into the sea. Could they have washed up on the shore and been used falsely in evidence against him?
ReplyDeleteSarah Jones forensic scientist suggested there was ‘strong evidence’ to link fibres from the jogging bottoms found on Alesha’s clothes. The boxer short material didn’t shed well, however “‘a fibre’ from the waistband was allegedly found on the pants”. There was strong evidence that some of the fibres on were linked to the jogging bottoms. When asked if these fibres could be found in similar items of clothing she answered ‘absolutely’. Therefore, there is no conclusive evidence of the fibres’ source – they could have come from similar boxers or jogging bottoms. Strong evidence is not the same as conclusive. This evidence is not reliable.
The black hoodie found in the beach was dumped into a skip by a police officer. The hoodie was found to have no blood or DNA of Alesha. Why and how did it get on the beach? If he wore it to kill the girl there would be tracers. Why was the officer so lax?
This is a very perplexing and upsetting case. I just wonder what the truth is about what happened on Prince Charles’s favourite island?
Why would AC’s mother install CCTV when this island is so crime free? She claims it was for her own mother’s dementia but it is unclear why this would help? It is also unclear as to why Aaron didn’t realise he would be filmed that night and delete it? It is rather convenient that this serial killer in the making was so easily snared.
Surely Aaron Campbell’s account is just as feasible as the prosecution’s case against him? He states he called Rab for cannabis and then messaged Toni but there was no reply. He then got in touch with her via Instagram to arrange the cannabis (though police say there is no evidence of this). He says they met, had sex using a condom she brought. He then returned home, showered and realised he had lost his phone and went to search, returning for a torch to help locate it. It is hard to see clearly on the CCTV if he is carrying something or not when he leaves in his boxers after showering. If he is carrying an item it is black. But the black hoodie was found with no DNA on it? What does this mean? And how do the jogging bottoms fit in?
Round and round we go. As I say, questions…questions…? If this boy committed this crime where were his motives and why is the evidence so odd? The DNA could have been planted via the condom. Maybe he did it but I am waiting to be convinced? Maybe Toni did it? Maybe they did it together? Maybe it was a sacrifice and part of a bigger agenda. It is unlikely we will ever know. But I for one will be watching. The truth is out there, somewhere, for this truly hideous crime. There is a massive dose of fear for the general public in this narrative and we are all traumatised by it but maybe that’s the point.
Many thanks for all the detailed thinking.

Thanks Aangirfan, I was glad to see you wrote about it, I hope you write more. I notice James Matthews on Twitter wrote this "CCTV then later in court shows accused leaving house at 1.54 am in black trousers, jogging bottoms and black fleece. Then 3.35am walking towards property, jumps over wall and enters. Mother asked in court if anything different about clothing, she says not got dark fleece on" This is confusing. How can he be wearing black trousers and jogging bottoms that can be visible in the dark on CCTV? If he had the jogging bottoms on top of the jeans you wouldn't see the jeans and vice versa. So how could both be seen at once? Were the joggers half leg? Why would you wear jogging shorts over jeans? None of that makes sense. If he was wearing both to murder her and dumped the joggers the jeans would still have DNA on them, but he took them off and didn't wash them and there was no trace in his home, on the taps, sink etc. This is all very strange. Did Aaron Campbell go there with a knife to confront Rab but decide on the spur of the moment to abduct his daughter instead? It isn't easy to pick up and carry a sleeping child of six. He was drunk and his inexperience would make him clumsy. To my mind it is much more likely Alesha was removed from her home by someone she knew, hence the lack of noise. This boy will be in prison a long time, I hope he did it, if he didn't it doesn't bear thinking about.

There's so much silence on the subject beyond the mainstream building him up as a monster who tortured cats (was this reported, where is the evidence?). I hope to see more questioning and analysis of the facts. It amazes me how much confusion there is over simple detail. Another example is when the grandfather woke up in the morning he presents three different versions of events, 1) that he almost walked into the open outside door and/or the bedroom door bumped it 2) Alesha's door was lying wide open 3) He went in to check on her, all the doors were closed. Why can't we establish the exact truth?
ReplyDeleteToni was the last person to see Alesha alive, it is claimed she went and and turned off the Peppa Pig DVD somewhere around 12.30am and that was the last she saw the girl alive. However, we also are told that Toni suggested to Aaron's mother to check the CCTV sometime after 2am 'as this was the last time she saw her alive'. If she was awake at 2am then surely this is exactly when Aaron was breaking in? How did she even know about the CCTV?
Why was the girl's body left facedown on the ground? Why not put her body in the sea? If he knew enough to ditch the joggers and boxers and knife why leave her body with all his DNA on it?
It reminds me of the McCann case as in the more you try to establish the detail the more uncertain the picture gets.
What if its all fake? Do u think its impossible? I dont. Noone should. Never forget we live in Orwellian times.

ReplyDeleteHi Aangirfan, have done some more checking and here is an update.
ReplyDeleteTimeline 2nd of July 2018
Aaron Campbell has been having a party for fifteen of his teenage friends at his home at 93 Ardberg Road, a large detached house in Rothsay. He is emotional after rowing with his mother. He has drunk at least a half bottle of wine mixed with a bottle of MadDog 20/20. Both he and his sister have been trying to get in touch with Rab MacPhail to buy cannabis without success.
12.30am Party breaks up. Aaron calls Rab who doesn’t answer.
1.40 Aaron phones Rab.
1.47 Aaron messages Toni.
1.54 The court is shown footage of Aaron leaving his house. We are not told which direction he walks in. Reports say he was wearing black trousers, grey jogging bottoms and a black fleece. It is unclear why two pairs of trousers can be seen simultaneously. Aaron lives approximately five minutes from the McPhail’s on Ardberg Road.
3.35 Aaron Campbell arrives back at his house. He has been out one hour and forty-one minutes. He is wearing black trousers and a light t-shirt. He arrives in the opposite direction from the crime scene, crossing over High Road. West Coast Motors is further up this street. Is this the garage Aaron claims to have been with Toni? Did he give her his black fleece and this is why he is no longer wearing it?
3.45 Aaron leaves wearing shorts and no top. The footage is very unclear but the court is told he is carrying something. He is barefoot. He heads in the direction of High Road.
3.52 Aaron returns from the same direction, climbs over the wall and can be seen empty handed. He has been gone 7 minutes.
3.58 Aaron now leaves wearing a t-shirt, shorts and shoes and again heads along High Road. He is carrying a torch and running.
4.07 Nine minutes later he returns for the last time from the same direction, the opposite direction from the murder scene.
So no DNA left in or out of the girl?
DeleteTimeline of alleged crime
ReplyDelete2am -2.10am Aaron carries Alesha out of her bed, out the flat, down two flights of stairs and through double front doors whilst drunk, leaving no finger prints or DNA and without waking the four adult occupants or any neighbours.
Aaron carries Alesha along Ardberg Road. There are many houses and blocks of flats on one side of the road and the open seafront is on the other. We don’t know what side of the road he is walking on but he doesn’t meet anyone and no one sees him directly. CCTV footage from a house picks up a shadowy figure carrying something on its back at 2.26am, another shows a figure carrying something in front of it at 2.30am. CCTV indicates the figure was moving slowly along the shoreline. Does this mean Aaron carried her on the other side of the road from the houses? Surely this would have made him more visible? If he walked closer to the houses he would have largely been hidden from view by front walls and hedges.
The wooded grounds of the former hotel are approximately thirteen minutes from the McPhail’s flat on foot. A direct walk home would take Aaron around eighteen minutes. So, the rape and murder took at least an hour to commit.
During the attack Aaron must have removed or pulled down his black trousers in order for fibres to transfer from the jogging bottoms and boxer shorts to Alesha’s clothing. Why were there no black fibres from the fleece or black trousers on Alesha? He abducted and carried her in them yet no trace was found on her. Neither were any fibres/DNA traced on his clothes to her.
It was High Tide at 2.15am on the 2nd of July. Did Aaron remove his boxer shorts and jogging bottoms immediately after the murder and dump them in the sea on his way home or did he wear them back to his house under the black trousers he returned in?
The fleece must have been dumped in the sea before going home as he was no longer wearing it. Did he dump the knife in the sea when he dumped the fleece or did he dump the knife when he left at 3.45? The footage is too unclear to say for sure if he is carrying something or what it might be.
Why did he need the torch at 3.58? He can’t have returned to the crime scene (on either of these excursions) as this doesn’t fit the time frame. He must have been searching for something nearby.
If he was dumping the jogging bottoms, boxer shorts and perhaps the knife during the first trip out at 3.45 why didn’t he dump his black trousers and t-shirt too? Why take some of the clothes but not all? Why was none of Alesha’s DNA found in in the house at 93 Ardbeg Road?
Why would Aaron incriminate himself next morning by sending a snap chat revealing himself as the murderer? Why would he need to Google DNA but know enough to dispose of some of the evidence? Why would he head to rape and murder a child he had never met knowing he had just phoned her father and that he would be caught on his home CCTV. And importantly, why did he return home from the opposite direction to the crime scene and why was this not pointed out in court?
I've added some of this to the text. Many thanks.

Thanks Aangirfan. I keep searching for more stuff on this.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I have realised is the jogging bottoms/boxer shorts and likely the knife are complete red herrings. The prosecution built up a case about the jogging bottoms deliberately being discarded after the murder (tried to tie it in at least by implication with the CCTV when he returned and left again). Fibres from the garments were said to have been matched on day 6 of the trial. They were said to had got onto Alesha's clothing by direct contact.
However, on day 8 the prosecution withdrew one charge - Attempting to Defeat the ends of Justice - attempting to hide evidence by disposing of clothing. This means Aaron Campbell did not hide any clothes or discard his clothes after the murder. If the grey jogging bottoms were not hidden by Aaron then they must have fallen off as he says, while he was swimming on the Friday before. So if he wasn't wearing them on the night how come the official court reports told us he was wearing black trousers and the grey jogging bottoms? Utter lies. I am assuming the knife wasn't dropped in the sea either as he wasn't charged with this.
To my mind the only thing that really ties Aaron to this crime (aside from his sperm) is the CCTV footage from the houses on the sea front. If the lone figure at 2.26/30 was carrying Alesha then it must be him. There simply wasn't time for him to have gone with Toni, had a smoke and sex, and for her to have returned to abduct Alesha in time for the 2.26am sighting.
The only other person it could be carrying Alesha at that time is Rab. If this is the case Toni must have joined him later with the sperm. But if no one else was spotted on the CCTV how did she get there? One way would be by going along Ardmory Road (near the garage) and over open fields. If there is no footage of two figures returning along Ardberg Road then Rab and Toni must have gone home over the fields too, down Ardmory Road, onto Ardbeg Road and then down Creek Lane (to avoid passing Aaron's house and CCTV). This seems very unlikely.
Is the 2.26/30 CCTV footage bogus? Are these two house owners covering up for the real timings? I still don't understand how a drunk fifteen year old could have carried Alesha so far without wakening her up, it's a long walk and she would have gotten heavy.
ReplyDeleteTwo points we can't be clear about are firstly the exact time of death. The pathologist said it was extremely difficult to be certain when Alesha died.
Secondly was anyone else spotted on the CCTV cameras walking along Ardberg Road that night? Was Aaron Campbell spotted on his way back from the murder? Nothing has been reported.
If he didn't go that route he would have had to have crossed open fields but there was no evidence of this found in his home. At no time did forensics mention that his clothes and shoes were covered in mud and twigs. He would be messy after a rape/murder in the woods but he came home and magically didn't drop mud or twigs anywhere and didn't wash his clothes.
So we are left with a complete mystery. Was Aaron Campbell some kind of drunken teenage ninja, leaving no DNA at either end of the crime? No finger prints on the main door and handle or flat door and handle - no DNA or finger prints inside the McPhail's flat? There were two palm prints of Aaron's found in the stairwell but it was impossible to say when they got there. And at the other end - no sign he had been in the woods, no DNA or blood from Alesha on his clothes or him.
Most of the mutilation of Alesha's genitals occurred after her death. Was this done to cover up the truth. Had she been sexually abused before this night? How could no blood have been found in 93 Ardbeg Road if he brutalised her in such a way?
And no motive, no reported previous interest in pornography or child pornography. A teenage boy who had plenty of girlfriends. Why did he phone Rab minutes before he took his daughter? Why let himself be seen on his own home CCTV? Why identify him self on Snap Chat? Inexplicable. Yet, it is impossible to see given the CCTV and the sperm how it could not have been him.
Is Aaron Campbell guilty as hell? His sperm tells us he is. CCTV footage implies that he is. Is he a patsy, the victim of a conspiracy? Why did the policeman dump the evidence? Why did the court say he was wearing grey jogging bottoms that matched the murder victim's clothes - then quietly dropped these charges? News reports still heavily focus on the grey jogging bottoms and this is deliberate obfuscation.
Could Aaron have committed this crime with help? Was he let into the McPhail's home, told where she would be? Was she handed over to him in the stairwell and that is why his palm prints are there? Yet why none on the front door?
The whole thing is so confusing. The evidence is not linear. If he did it why not evidence at both houses? I wish I knew the answer to this. It really hurts my head. I hope something more emerges but I doubt I will ever know the truth.
I also find it highly suspicious that at 6am (the exact time Alesha was discovered missing) Toni would decide to phone Aaron Campbell, returning his call. Surely the house would be in pandemonium and she would be too busy searching the house to have the wherewithal to phone a boy looking for weed in the early hours. Why think of him? Very odd behaviour on her part.
ReplyDeleteEven after the so-called confession, I think there is much more to this than will ever come out. My own opinion is that he is very likely innocent of this particular crime, but if not, I do not for a moment think that there were not several people involved in this
ReplyDeleteWhat if Alesha was already dead when she was removed from the house? She had an injury to her arm, and had been shaken and had signs of smothering/asphyxiation. What if that part happened inside the house then Aaron Campbell offered or was contacted to help cover up for whoever did that, and removed her to the woods where she was found and he then could have did the terrible mutilation to cover up any signs of sexual abuse. They were all in contact with each other that night and the texts Toni sent Aaron to say she was missing and his reply, maybe that's just to cover themselves? Maybe he did have sex with her and she kept the condom and used the "contents" to incriminate Aaron for the whole thing?
