ECKHART TOLLE

Spiritual teacher Eckhart Tolle wants you to feel everything as being miraculous and peaceful.

Eckhart Tolle

Eckhart Tolle - What is Self?

You are the consciousness that perceives things?

Individuality is an illusion created by the mind?

Eckhart Tolle suggests that you can observe reincarnation in yourself many times during the day when you identify with a thought.

The moment you associate your identity with the thought, you have forgotten your essential nature as consciousness and have incarnated into a thought form.

According to Tolle:

(Reincarnation, Karma and Presence)

“Karma, as I see it, is the unconscious conditioning that runs your life.

"Karma is partly collective, and partly personal...

"Your karma is the unconscious identification with these patterns that you have inherited – the conditioned...

"Many times a day, you are re-born into an emotional or mental reaction, into thoughts that arise...

"So if you think the world is full of evil people, you will meet many evil people...

"The only thing that can free you of karma is the arising of Presence.

"As Presence arises, gradually karma diminishes and you will experience a fading out of those patterns."

Eckhart Tolle writes about making people happy.

He writes about spirituality.

He says that we should focus on the present moment, the 'now'.

Consider the Lilies and how they grow; they don't worry about the past or future.

The past and future are only thoughts in the mind. We should not cling on to the 'past'.

By being consciously present in the 'now', we are more likely to enjoy the future.

It is the selfish ego that worries unnecessarily about the past and the future.

'Being in the now' helps bring about:

1. an awareness of things beyond 'the mind'

2. an awareness of the spiritual

3. an awareness of the links between ourselves and all things

4. an awareness of how to overcome pain

5. an awareness of how to deal with the selfish ego and stop worrying about status.

Eckart explains:

1. You are not your thoughts. You are the awareness behind the thoughts.

Awareness of your thoughts without being caught up in them is the first step to freedom.

2. Be aware of your negative thoughts. Free yourself from your negative thoughts. Enjoy your experience of the 'now'.

3. Accept the present moment. Accept any feelings. Don't try to ignore them.

Acceptance does not mean that you cannot take action to improve the situation you are in. Actions you take should arise from deep awareness.

The vast majority of pain in a person's life comes from resistance to what is.

Eckhart Tolle is not aligned with any particular religion or tradition.

Influences on Tolle include the writings of Meister Eckhart, Advaita Vedanta, A Course in Miracles and Zen Buddhism's Lin-chi (Rinzai) school. One of his books also interprets sayings of Jesus from the Bible.

Eckhart writes: "The way of the cross is the old way to enlightenment.... Enlightenment consciously chosen means to relinquish your attachment to past and future... How much more time do you think you will need before you are able to say, 'I will create no more pain, no more suffering?"'

  3. Nice one Aang. Just finished reading The Power of Now. A very insightful read. Answers a lot of questions and allows for a resonant understanding of one's self.

    Highly recommended.

  8. The whole point about memories (past) and fear (future) is that they are involuntary. Tolle is just another in a long list of gurus who think people are somehow refusing to be happy. It's infuriating. The one thing you'll never find in any of their books is any advice on how to actually stop bad memories and how to remove fear. If you're incapable of enjoying the present you need profesional psychotherapy not patronising bon mots.

Depends on a person, but one can get A LOT of help from Tolle's books : Hee genuinly went into these states He describes.
Take what makes sense for you, you free to choose. But sounds more like you prefer keep firmly to your ego...

    2. You're the one with the ego problem, you criticise my spelling mistake but then make one of your own. You tell me Tolle is happy because HE can get into "these states" so if I can't there must be something wrong with me. So sucks to be me I guess. This is just like all the other eastern philosophies ripped off by the CIA for their own cult programme. If you have a simple brain with simple thoughts and nothing bad has ever happened to you then you are just the kind of woolly-thinking know-nothing narcissist they're looking for. Join a cult, you'd love it.

Bin there, done that. Seth, Ramtha, Course of Miracles, you name it. All trying to make you believe we're all one. Guess what, you're an individual living your own life. Never mind the people trying to tell you otherwise. It's a cop-out and takes away your own power. Shit happens in everyone's life. Deal with it.

  14. I'm quite content with the anger and bitterness I hold towards certain people/ideas/actions in the world, since I offset them with enough love and goodwill to create a balance within. The 'positivity' crowd nauseate me with their honey-drenched, saccharine view of the world. I say you can have whatever feeling you want as long as you own it and never let it take away from the core of who you are. An old friend of mine once said that no matter what or who you invest in, spiritually and emotionally, always keep a piece of you back for yourself....that small island in the stream you can retreat to and regroup, refocus and then come again. Wise words which have stood me in good stead. I also don't believe a stitch of this crap about attracting success through wishing well on others. There's plenty of successful idiots who are absolutely wretched to people, both on the way up and when they get there. Life isn't the dreamlike hallucination the New Agers seem to think it is; it's a brutal, unforgiving race for survival in which the weak are crushed by the weight of existence. Just do the best you can because it will all soon be over and it will then be somebody else's turn to try and make sense of it all.

Fact, but NOT for everybody :
some folks just get things, cash quite easily ( Not sayoing about CEO's ) and enjoy it, but most, right, most of souls struggle...

    2. your comment reminded me of what the Father Christmas/Krampus good and bad was historically. At yuletide if kids were good FC would appear with gifts, if bad the demonic Krampus would terrorize you. All rather Catholic in the old days (heaven or hell, you choose) but these days it's all saccarine father Christmas. No balance....

Do you refer to my short comment about Karma, or the longer above ? Written by other person.

Karma exists, and works in a hidden way most of the time, yes there is balance for those who can see it.

Catholic ship is sinking...of course, there was child abuse in EVERY religion, but the level of pollution in the church is absolutly "unbeatable", sadly. Vatican is falling.

Hopefully; something new will emerge from its ashes.

BTW : Father Christmas is rather occult, not Christian...
and actually in 'modern christianity' there are few things only which are originally Christian : most is pagan, occult, invented, divide and rule, diabolic and worse.

  15. You have to believe in something as there is too much suffering in the world. I was an arch atheist once, but I had a religious experience which took me to the Quakers and they were lovely. They were liberals, lefties, and pacifists, like me. I was allowed to practice Buddhism there, but I was really Quaker first and foremost.

There were Christian Quakers, and Universalists - who take inspiration from all religions - but really we were all Quakers.

I've been spiritual ever since and I enjoy Anng's spiritual posts.

  16. I found this macro sequence useful (attributed to Gandhi
but it doesn't really matter who actually said what)

    Your beliefs become your thoughts,
    Your thoughts become your words,
    Your words become your actions,
    Your actions become your habits,
    Your habits become your values,
    Your values become your destiny

I like Tolle's work, and I think his contribution to humanity is very positive.
Unlike dogmatic religions/beliefs I'd have a hard time believing Tolle's exposition
of spirituality could be perverted into authoritarianism or entice people to kill
    people dissimilar to themselves.

I can only speak to my experiences, but there are periods in my life when I am
somehow able to let go of my emotional baggage and become lighter and more
present. There are other periods in my life when I am weighed down by finding evil
in the world. While Aangirfan often serves up a daily dose of awfulness and injustice
in the world it is important to also focus on the positive of what we all want.

Magic, a close relation to dogmatic religion, is organized into three groups - White
magic has traditionally referred to the use of supernatural powers or magic for
selfless purposes. Grey magic is 'neutral' magic that is not performed for
specifically beneficial reasons, but is also not focused towards completely hostile
    practices.

We all know about black magic, with the use of supernatural powers or magic for evil
and selfish purposes as being the only type of magic occupying many people's minds.
Dogmatic religions tend to be viewed more as more like white magic but in fact have similar darker aspects just like magic.

My point is seeking out positive spirituality is vitally important for all of us, or our curious minds (and I know Aangirfan readers are going to have open, curious minds) become surrounded by negativity.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Well that is quite a comment thread above. Very good of Aangirfan to let through such a diverse range of views.

It's indeed notable that the Powers That Be seem to encourage certain threads of eastern spiritual thought, and then the question is 'Why' they do so; they particularly encourage some Buddhist thought, or other 'pop spirituality' which the Powers may think make people more passive and accepting

Plus there is a danger that the idea 'you control your mind's reaction to things', can become a sort of 'blame the victim' verbal abuse - 'It's your own fault if you feel bad after others mauled your life'

Some say that 'selling passivity' is behind the 'Jewish trick' with 'Jesus and Christianity', Jesus imitating Buddhist themes, Jesus saying that God's kingdom is 'of another world', or as the Jimmy Cliff reggae song went, 'They tell me apple pie up in the sky, is waiting for me when I die ...' ('Harder They Come')

It is also a theme argued historically re the history of India, which dropped its 'warrior' mentality as Buddhism spread, which many claim enabled the Muslim conquest of India, and Muslims wiping out the world's great centre of learning, the university of Nalanda that had existed for 1,700 years ... As Indian people beat the Muslims back, they also tended to recover their more warrior-friendly Hinduism, persisting to the present day

Hinduism in works such as the Bhagavad-Gita, and Daoism in works such as that of Sun-Tzu's 'Art of War', cultivated a kind of 'spiritually calm warrior' mentality which many of us still appreciate

The Powers That Be, however, may underestimate the degree to which any kind of spirituality, is always intrinsically radical, with its orientation toward truth and a better way of things in the universe

About Indian people : Shree Caitanya movement in India was civil, and spiritual desobedience against muslims, but nonviolent : only Sikh people are fired up, that's why the British monsters were drag of India ( No, not because of Gandhi, but mostly of Sikh threat ).

  19. No, Tolle is real but this is the crux:

What many of the activists/dissidents/'conspiranauts' seem to be unaware of is the necessity of inner work; shadow projection, transformation of negative emotions, spirituality, mindfulness meditation (perfect for the truth/justice/freedom-movements as they are hit hard by the chaos, being excessively aware of it). There is a huge amount of emotional reactivity going on, especially because this group have seen into the abyss.

What is characteristic of many of the politically awakened is that they belong to a new third segment, what we could call ‘conspiritual’ ( ‘conspiracy aware’ + spiritual). IMO a pristine priceless category of people.

Whereas the two groups – the activists and the spiritual – don’t seem to be complementing each other, the third group unifies them both. Many spiritually inclined people often believe in the official narratives; global warming, overpopulation, peak oil, vaccines, etc. and other fabricated elite memes, and thus can also become 'useful idiots. ' While many vigilant dissidents - who are aware of directed history/deep politics - often lack the spiritual awareness, most of the spiritual people lack awareness of directed history/deep politics (and the so-called sheeple lack both of the above).

Many among the spiritual vanguard are ignorant about deep politics/directed history, and they can therefore become unwitting pawns and supporters of elite memes and disinformation injected into the culture, fx. endorsers of Obama (who is worse than Bush according to Noam Chomsky fx) - just an example.

  20. Vertical internal spiritual development does not in itself give birth to horizontal knowledge about concrete and often hidden causations in the external world. Non-duality is about transcendence of thoughts and emotions - the vertical process. Knowledge of the relative world is about the use of thought - a horizontal process. Non-dual consciousness does not provide knowledge and insight into dangers of fluoride, vaccines, aspartame, GMO, Monsanto, false flag terror, the deliberate dumbing down of entire populations, deep politics and directed history, global warming and CO2 swindle, etc. – unless you have a quite specific form of ‘always-ready clairvoyance’ which can substitute knowledge, discursive thought, logic and analysis.

Both a vertical awakening (transformation of negative emotions and transcendence of thought) + a horizontal knowledge (of ‘what is’ (it) will be necessary.

Meditation and mindfulness will not make primary psychpathy, Bilderberg, CFR, TLC, Skull and Bones, False flags, vanish into thin air. This would imply that meditators, morphic resonance, or directed positive intention could somehow transform elite psychopaths in power into noble persons, nullifying their free will in the process, exalting their low emotional state to a sudden empathic level - which is wishful irrational thinking. Not going to happen with primary psychopaths (neurologically hardwired), sorry.

  21. And many spiritually inclined people are not even aware of the depths and destructive influence of the 'Darth Vader-empire' in the first place! We can only remove such shadow organizational entities if sufficient numbers of people are becoming aware of their destructive influence in the first place, apply thought and analysis, and then skillful action. A vertical spiritual awakening (transformation, and transcendence of negative emotions and exclusive identification with thought) in the individual is necessary but it cannot remove these entities - the domain of thought and analysis and subsequent skillful action is needed here.

The third category - 'the conspiritual' (etymologically incorrect and a slang-neologism but anyway..) seems to be intertwining both the vertical and the horizontal in this respect, or many are at least cognizant of the necessity of both perspectives. This group is growing and being a unifying catalyst for bringing the 2 former categories - previously more irreconcilable groups - together. A more versatile and truly informed spearhead for both horizontal and vertical enlightenment.

Knowledge, discursive analysis, can't be replaced by the inner vertical alchemical process (leading to transcendence of negative emotions, absence of emotional reactivity, etc.)

Conversely; the 'conspiracy theorists' deep politics studies is no substitute for the interior vertical alchemical proces, the transformation of inner soul life.
Both things are needed optimally, the vertical spiritual process and the horizontal analysis - it doesn't mean that nothing good comes from the one or the other.

The 'conspiritual underground' will probably be the third unifying category with the greatest skillfiul means in action (along with the activists fighting for the same cause against the 'Darth Vader-empire' but whose lack of spiritual training will make them much more emotionally reactive, at times in a state of rage, in a state of high distress, which is perfectly understandable, human nature considered, but nonetheless; their potential pitfall probably could be the hatred against NWO. The adage here applies; Battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster, and if you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you. - Nietzsche

Nietzsche IMO is adressing the emotional reactive component, while the spiritual underground (who are aware of the 'Darth Vader Empire's Modus Operandi') to a much greater extent is free of negative emotions, and mentally more discerning in such a freedom fight, adhering to a cool mindset la Sun Tzu and non-attachment. Both groups fight for the same, but the subjective negative pole is not as compelling among the more spiritual Deep Politics dissidents

Any prisoner in The Matrix is shocked in the moment of realization that the power of the cultural trance of falsehoods, slavery, etc.

And therefore mindfulness is necessary as calmness in the ongoing storm (not mindfulness as sedating adjustment to a pathological system which it is being used for also), but mindfulness as a reaction to the grim truth; the realization that there is a very destructive stealth-pathological systen, a storm, which is an unpleasant awakening, which is why equilibrium of the mind is especially necessary.

We should practice mindfulness always anyway, but not adjust to a sick society (Krishnamurti said the same), not use mindfulness as misapplied adjustment to undetected slavery in Brave New World/the Truman Show. To rebel against evil while learning to be calm in chaos is to have 'Jedi Mind' Underground.

  22. Simply said: Everyone has to carry his(her) own cross.

Just like going to the loo, no one but you can do that for you, Charlie Brown.

The vertical axe of the cross is the transendence of the egoic body/mind (emotions, perceptions, actions etc. what not).

The horizontal axe of the cross is the info communication with other body/mind (etc.) sets or just perception of the ´outside´ world.

The vertical axe of the cross is longer because it is basic to the smooth fun/ctioning of the horizontal activity of the body/mind (etc.) set.

The vertical axe can be seen as symbolic for the raisin´ ( and yes the grapes were not sour at least not that sour) of the Life Force. In Sanskrit terminology: Raising the Kundalini.

On the first day of Xmas My Mother gave to me a full spine of Kundalini.

Since then all exams in the university of zee uni-verse are passed with only AAAA´s.

A stands for no-thing-ness, One´s Own Self not bound by any thing not even the body/mind (etc.) vorher (before the in-here/NT Heer revealed him/her=it SELF in all nakedness.
