Rick Saccone has been the Republican candidate in the March 2018 Pennsylvania 18th District Special Election.

Republican Tim Murphy held this seat for 10 years until it was revealed that Murphy, who is married and pro-life, asked his mistress to consider an abortion in the midst of a pregnancy scare.

While in Iraq, Rick Saccone worked as an interrogation consultant at Abu Ghraib prison.[11]

Saccone advocated for waterboarding, sleep deprivation, and other forms of "enhanced interrogation" in articles and his book.[42][43]

Saccone's beliefs are strongly influenced by Christian reconstructionist and author David Barton.
