Fox news columnist John Lott is a fervent supporter of guns.
However, in 2000 Lott was unable to produce the data, or any records showing that the survey had been undertaken.
Lott created and used "Mary Rosh" as a sock puppet to defend his own works on Usenet and elsewhere.

After investigative work by blogger Julian Sanchez, Lott admitted to use of the Mary Rosh persona.[61]
Sanchez also pointed out that Lott, posing as Rosh, not only praised his own academic writing, but also called himself "the best professor I ever had".
Aangirfan was criticised by a reader when stating that the Americas have the highest murder rate, and the most guns.
So here are the figures:
Louisiana has a higher murder rate (10.8) than New Hampshire (1.7).
In 2013, at the Menznau factory in Switzerland, an employee opened fire on his co-workers in the company's cafeteria.
This came only weeks after another shooter killed three people and wounded two others in the southern Swiss village of Daillon.

And if there were more Americans like him—at least one in every classroom, movie theater, and Bible study, ideally—mass murderers would think twice before shooting anything.
The meme gets at the central argument espoused by the pro-gun lobby in recent years, rephrasing former NRA President Wayne LaPierre's famous 2013 statement that, "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun."
Unfortunately, though, LaPierre's "good guy" fantasy is just that.
While it's true that gunslinging civilians have stopped a few shootings, in real life, these armed vigilantes can also be very unhelpful. In the heat of a firefight, they might aim for the wrong person, for example, or end up shooting that person in the head. And sometimes, they get themselves killed.
If you get away from action movie scenarios, science says gun owners are less safe from gun violence than other people.
Because when the good guys end their nightly patrols and holster their guns, they generally take those guns home.
And studies have shown that once they're there, they're more likely - twice as likely, by some estimates - to be killed by a "bad guy" than people who don't keep firearms at home.

ReplyDeleteSome of us who live in the States actually think the "gun" issue is a big diversion.
Thanks to gun ownership, Americans are less likely to be politically involved.
Thanks to gun ownership, Americans are less likely to join unions (and are usually hostile to them.)
Thanks to gun ownership, Americans are least likely of all civilized humans to think that getting to know the neighbors is normal behavior.
From the corporate/government point of view, gun ownership is a big winner in the United States, and likely to stay that way.
ALSO (and this is not a joke) everytime gun sales go into a slump, Washington puts out the word that the government is going to confiscate firearms. Sales jump through the roof. When Obama was first elected, the panic was so intense there were ammunitions shortages from the Great Lakes to the Rio Grande.
Whatever they think of guns, Americans love to make the rich richer.
"Thanks to gun ownership, Americans are less likely to be politically involved".
DeleteAny evidence for this would be interesting. The overwhelming majority of 2nd amendment supporters I have encountered are far more involved than the average voter.
"Thanks to gun ownership, Americans are less likely to join unions (and are usually hostile to them.)"
Again, any evidence proving causality for this ?

Following site seems to prove, that liberal gun laws in a country do not imply necessarily higher murder rates.

Switzerland does have a relatively high “gun density”, mainly due the fact, that conscripts are requested to have their guns at home during the time they remain in the army reserve.
(TPTB are massively pressuring Switzerland to abolish this system, mainly through the scheme Partnership for Peace / NATO)
Understand, that most of the killings done with guns in Switzerland are suicides. It is naïve to believe, that a person willing to end his life, is not able to do so without a gun.
(on average, each engine driver of the Swiss railway system can expect to be involved in two cases of having suicidal persons jumping in front of his engine…)
The terrible mass shooting in 2001 in Zug shows strong evidence of a staged event.
-the killer Leibacher had several convictions for fraud, theft, arms trafficking and being a pedophile.
-in 1998, he threatened an unarmed adversary in a bar with a hand-gun. The “adversary” sued against Leibacher, the authorities stood down with the investigation for three years
-the authorities issued licenses to Leibacher to acquire guns until shortly before the massacre
-the ex-wife of Leibacher warned the authorities in June, that Leibacher would be up to an “ugly revenge”, the authorities completely ignored her warning, the massacre happened 3 months later.
-despite all this evidence, the authorities never disarmed Leibacher, as clearly foreseen by respective laws
-officially Leibacher shot himself with a pistol in the right temple, this as being a sinistral/lefty (the official report stated he would have right hander). Finally, Leibacher’s body was found being handcuffed…
-some years after the incidence, Swiss TV wanted to produce an investigative report. The authorities in Zug completely refused any cooperation in that regard
Following site is giving the main details of the incidence / investigation (in German)

Aangirfan,
DeleteTPTB do not want the common people to be armed, or how do you explain that the UK and Australia were disarmed to a very large extend, this after mass shootings which looked staged.
Of course, the people you identify so well in most of your reports were very pleased for not encountering an armed citizenry, at the time, when they took away all the foodstuff of the people in Ukraine back in the 1920s see
http://www.holodomorct.org/history.html
respectively in Ireland in the 1850s (see http://www.irishholocaust.org/ )
The mass shooting in Romanshorn you are referring to, happened back in 1912. Could this also have been a staged event, in order to strengthen the pacifist forces, which were doing everything to have certain countries disarmed, despite the fact that everybody had a feeling, that a war was imminent…

the psyop works on both sides. why would one wish to assume (i.e., steal) another individual's private property? i have done no one harm. the many usa prisons are chock full of those who have threatened no one/done no harm.
"Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the Act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest." - so Gandi knew self-defense didn't equate to militarism. ....oh they'll tell you it was because Indians were prevented conscription in WWI, so ask yourself if it makes sense for an anti-militarist to define such "misdeeds" as "the BLACKEST Act".... and it's for THEIR army he wanted to fight no less?
MLK tried for a gun license and was denied. Maybe that's untrue and part of the psyop, but it makes sense to me that he would want one.
Solzhenitsyn has a quote attributed to him re: giving the individual a last resort defense from the gulag. "And how we burned in the camps later....", or something. it's from the book, so probably not a psy-op in translation.
but call those psy-op lies if you want. i was psy-op'd on this the vast majority of my life, because i was (and am) anti-violence and anti-militaristic. and because i didn't really think about it beyond surface. i didn't think long enough about a woman who's been raped and wants to take a positive step in her self defense. i didn't think about how 1984 and A Brave New World (still required reading stateside, i believe - talk about conditioning!) might actually be real, might somehow actually occur. i hadn't traveled beyond my own continent. i didn't think enough about how criminals (like even your pedophiles) might be deterred by the mere question of who is armed in the populace. (i know it didn't deter sandusky, but doesn't that episode tilt the argument from the authority (or the state) to the people?) i didn't WANT a gun. still don't.
i can't figure how one can be both anti-2nd amendment and anti-pedophilia. it isn't logical.
people are the basically same all around the world. they're humans, and they want peace and contentment and they have empathy, unless they are sociopaths/psychopaths. they don't have a control fetish. even your typical "control freak" doesn't extend it towards strangers.
but somethings happening here today / a show of strength with your psycho brigade. and (here and all around the world) we're sensing their boot start to pound pound pound.
(that's lifted from a better-than-avg paul weller tune, which is to say, a "great fookin' song mmaaaannnn...")
the psychopaths in control seem to have brought their psy-op of fear up to fever pitch. call me "controlled" for it, but i still don't wish to surrender my gun to them. naturally.

You're barking up the wrong tree Aangirfan. The issue is not guns. The issue is power and who has the moral authority to carry and use a gun. Your entire article is a red herring in that respect. I'll give you have a point about American abuse of that power - both foreign and domestically. To put it bluntly, do you think Russians have more right to bear arms than Americans at this point in history? Or is your point that no one ought to bear arms. DeleteJesus also said sell your cloak and buy a sword. Which is it?
Jesus turned his cheek and got nailed to the cross by the way.
Dublinmick says:
Those who have a sword live much longer than those without a sword and are taken much more seriously than those without a sword.
Saints will do as they must, the rest of us heathen will wield the sword of justice.
When I got mugged in rough parts of Asia, Europe, Africa and South America, neither I nor my assailants were carrying guns.
DeleteIn each case I offered no resistance.
In each case I suffered no injury. In each case I lost a couple of dollars.
After I was mugged in a shanty town in South America I learnt that an American had been mugged in the same spot the week before.
The American had been killed.
Bare arms are better than bearing arms.
As for the Gospels - there is a belief that the crucifiction story was added by Jewish writers so as to tie in with the Hebrew myths.
"Late in the third century B.C. Cleomenes, king of Sparta, embarked on a revolutionary policy of cancellation of debts, redistribution of land and emancipation of the helots (slaves).
"He was driven out of Sparta...
"In the story preserved by Plutarch, Cleomenes and twelve friends have a last supper together on the night before his death.
"He is betrayed to his enemies...
"His dead body is crucified.
"A prodigy occurs after the crucifixion; and the people of Alexandria call him a 'hero and son of the gods'."
Most scholars now accept that the Nativity story was added by Jewish writers in order to tie in with Hebrew myths.
"When I got mugged in rough parts of Asia, Europe, Africa and South America, neither I nor my assailants were carrying guns. In each case I offered no resistance".
DeleteI have absolutely no problem with this. It is the need to tell others what they can and cannot do that grates.
i forgot to include this -
ReplyDeleteconsider perhaps america has gun violence not just for 300 million guns, but because america is poor.
it might seem rich because .001% of the top has GNP equal to Brasil, or some such thing, but those aren't really americans, are they?

ReplyDeleteFact is that if the people in the countries that were holocausted by jewmerica had guns, there would never be an empire.
ReplyDeleteHere are the gungrabbers:
https://thezog.wordpress.com/who-is-behind-gun-control/
You mean that countries like Afghanistan and Iraq did not have guns?
DeleteThe fact is that if the American military and airforce come to your house you will not be able to defend yourself with a few guns.
I understand your logic here. It is true that a team of soldiers/ police/ DHS goons or whatever at your doorstep would be suicidal to oppose, whether you had guns or not.
DeleteHowever, an armed populace can organise themselves into militias and have a chance.
Now you're going to say what about all the heavy equipment the government has.
Yes, but there exists in every society a stock of resources including knowledge, that can also be used against government forces.
I'm talking people with the know-how to use drones, electronic warfare, acquire or manufacture anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons, etc.
There's more than just guns in any prospective fight, but that's goes for anti-government as well as government forces.
The rebels wouldn't necessarily have to have as much as the government, only enough to neutralise what the government has.
All of this means that there is still a military advantage to be gained by governments over their own people by restricting guns.
Why else would the government and media be so interested in gun control?
It's illogical to say that guns are too dangerous for the peasants to have while ignoring the obvious alacrity with which governments pursue gun control.
You want militias like in Iraq and Libya? Why not copy the peaceful countries.
DeleteWhen a supremacist guns down churchgoers and is seen brandishing the Stars and Bars in an exceedingly photograph taken before the murders, this reminds United States of America of the requirement to respect those that area unit apposed to its existence and why. Adolf Hitler's anti-Semitic image of hate, the tetraskele, after all harks back to mortal ill-treatment, once all human rights of mortal individuals were revoked, and that they were now not allowed to integrate into German society and luxuriate in an equivalent privileges because the remainder of the population. As if to clarify their evil intent mortal individuals were forced to wear arm bands with the Star of David and even have their passports sealed with the only word 'Jew'.If you want to read more about guns in america news then please visit our website.
ReplyDeleteAs far as I am concerned, anyone who is against an armed populace is pro tyranny.

Americans Never Give Up Your Guns
ReplyDelete28.12.2012 - By Stanislav Mishin
"Moscow fell, for example, not from a lack of weapons to defend it, but from the lying guile of the Reds. Ten thousand Reds took Moscow and were opposed only by some few hundreds of officer cadets and their instructors. Even then the battle was fierce and losses high. However, in the city alone, at that time, lived over 30,000 military officers (both active and retired), all with their own issued weapons and ammunition, plus tens of thousands of other citizens who were armed. The Soviets promised to leave them all alone if they did not intervene. They did not and for that were asked afterwards to come register themselves and their weapons: where they were promptly shot.
Of course being savages, murderers and liars does not mean being stupid and the Reds learned from their Civil War experience. One of the first things they did was to disarm the population. From that point, mass repression, mass arrests, mass deportations, mass murder, mass starvation were all a safe game for the powers that were. The worst they had to fear was a pitchfork in the guts or a knife in the back or the occasional hunting rifle. Not much for soldiers."

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn -
ReplyDelete“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”
It is presumably beyond dispute that axes/hammers/pokers are less efficient than firearms.
