Many libertarians don't believe we should have monopoly laws, exactly what most of the ruling class believe too. Many libertarians that there should be no laws against insider dealing, exactly what the ruling class want too because they have lots of contacts and can manipulate the market.
Many libertarians want all regulations removed so that health and safety can be discarded and companies can pollute at will. Exactly what the ruling class wants too.
Many libertarians deny climate change science, exactly what the Koch brothers paid for. They pumped £millions into discrediting the science.
Only on war might the libertarians might the libertarians have different views to the ruling class. The Koch brothers put the anti war bit in, along with making drugs legal, to tempt young people in the 60's to become libertarians. But libertarians won't have any way to stop the rich from starting wars when they have got rid of the government. The rich will have private armies and many already do have now.
The ruling class own the media and have corrupted politics. By obscuring the facts they can get people to vote for policies that suit them, not the public. They have been conning people.
Our governments are corrupt and are ruled by the 1% and that 's why they have become unpopular. But the answer is not less government, but more democratic and accountable government. The ruling class have always fought against that, so now they have invented libertarianism to pull the wool over peoples eyes.

ReplyDeleteMy guess (and it is only a guess) is that Rand grew up seeing his Dad stand for principle on every vote -- and getting consistently ignored and pushed out of any real influence in either the government or the Republican Party. Please note, I am NOT saying that Ron Paul has not been a teacher and inspiration to We The People, but only that the power structures have ignored and belittled him. Rand may have decided, "the heck with this, just do whatever it takes to gain power, and THEN try to reform things!" That does not excuse what he is doing, but it might at least be an understandable reason.

Rand Paul turned into a turd rather quickly!
